HE Quarterfinals: #8 Vermont @ #1 New Hampshire: "Spooning Since 1791"

Scorps has $1 Pitchers on Tuesday nights. Hard to beat that. Any other night there you can find a roided-out brofest. Ballard's is rather dead these days and the food is mediocre at best. Libby's will most always be your best shot, and the Knot is a solid #2.

I mentioned Scorps, but I don't like the scene at Libby's. The Knot it is for me.

Like I said, Ballards was running Guinness off of straight CO2, so it was never quite right and took forever to draw a glass. Now they've resorted to the canned Guinness.

Ballards seems like they have good specials, so they have to create a draw, like TP used to have with Irish Night and Revel's Glen.

Glad to see Madore play much better but lets not forget that the Cats only gave up 17 shots, so Kudos to the 6 D and back checkers who bottled up UNH and not let them get great scoring chances.

Re: HE Quarterfinals: #8 Vermont @ #1 New Hampshire: "Spooning Since 1791"

This will be seen as just another loss by UNH as the #1 seed in the playoffs at home. One tendency I've seen in these losses by the UNH faithful is to say UNH had a bad night, they played to the level of their competition, they faced a hot goalkeeper, blah, blah, etc.; rarely is credit given to the opposing coach for arriving at The Whitt with a viable game plan to befuddle Mr. Umile. Tonight this may have been the case. I do not know: I did not see the game. I do know that UNH lost 1-0 at home to UVM. My assessment: pathetic.
Congrats to UVM for what I must assume to have been an intelligently conceived and executed game plan.
Better luck to UNH tomorrow night. I hope someone can find the answer.

Guinness isn't right unless it is purchased in Ireland.

Did someone forget the fish tonight....??????

That must really be awful having to hold on to that fish all night. Luckily, since the hillbillies aren't big on hygiene, it didn't cause them to smell much worse than they did when they walked into the Whitt! :D

You do realize they are allowed to have guns in NH?

Re: HE Quarterfinals: #8 Vermont @ #1 New Hampshire: "Spooning Since 1791"

I miss the days when we were complaining about them only playing in the third period...tonight they had it for a few minutes late in the third but just couldnt turn it up that extra notch. all in all seemed like a very poor performance tonight, better pick it up and come out firing tomorrow night.

Right, because the hippies in the visitors section smell awesome.

Re: HE Quarterfinals: #8 Vermont @ #1 New Hampshire: "Spooning Since 1791"

just listened to dick on the morning buzz and he gave props to uvm and how well they played down the stretch. he wouldn't say it but i will.........unh sweeps this series even though uvm played us tough a couple of weeks ago. i just think unh is too strong at home for uvm to take this series.

so much for predictions. i should have gone with my initial instincts which told me that this was going to be a real cat fight.

the wind is howling outside and it's nasty. the hockey gods are ready to rumble so let's get it on already.

no more predictions except to say. go cats of the wild persuasion:D

Re: HE Quarterfinals: #8 Vermont @ #1 New Hampshire: "Spooning Since 1791"

I actually thought UNH played better for 60 minutes last night than the night before. Much better handling the pressure in their own end, but certainly not as good in the UVM zone. UVM certainly had more chances, but UNH missed their opportunities, something that didn't happen on Friday. If they are going to win tonight, I do believe they are going to have to get a couple of goals ahead. Have to forget about pretty plays and start crashing the net more. Tips and rebounds will win this, not tic-tac-toe and home run passes.
