Hats off to B.C. for a great season

Ran into a tough Ohio State squad tonight and can walk with their heads high. Looking good for next season (only graduating 2 seniors) and will be led by returning players: Savannah Norcross (Grand daughter of the great, Billy Moran), Kelly Browne and Hannah Bilka and netminder, Abigail Levy (a whopping 45 save performance tonight!). Great season Eagles!

A good team for sure! They had me on edge after getting the first goal. They'll be a seasoned squad to contend with next season!

bc in the hunt
but getting over the hump,
will be difficult
All in on offense
defense is a second thought
hard habit to break
cupcakes do taste good
but too much of a good thing,
leads to first round loss...

I actually thought that BC's defense has improved from days gone by. Sure, they could have done better eliminating sticks on a couple of goals, but at least they had defenders there, not just slowly skating back after a failed rush up ice. Now back to your regularly-scheduled haiku ...

The reason they had defenders there was because they were stuck in their own zone for long stretches. It looked like how Bemidji used to pack it in and hope their goaltender would keep them in the game.

bc had 13 shots on goal for the game...I mean, what the heck. It's hard to have many rushes up ice with that few shots to slowly skate back from.

(it was kinda fun to get the cupcake thing in the Haiku, though)

Bemidji had people like the Wheelhouse sisters who blocked almost as many shots as the goalie.

I thought that part of the story yesterday was OSU's response in the second period. If they can bottle that and bring it out on demand, they will be a tough team to put away. A lot of hard work and flying around. Perfect? No, but it's tough to fault the effort.

Maybe it was a BC failing, but Ohio State looks a lot like that when I typically watch them. Not sure what went wrong in the game that they lost to the Gophers, 7-4, but otherwise, they keep charging. Even then, they kept battling back. If I was coaching BC, I couldn't say what specifically they should have been doing different in the 2nd period compared to the first. Note that there are experts on this forum who WILL know.

They should keep that to themselves...I like how bc is coached. I wouldn't want them to change a thing. LOL

I think some of it is WHEA calls more penalties, encouraging a less physical game and BC either is the less physical team in the WCHA matchups or they struggle to know where the line is.
