Has Rick Comley jumped the shark?

Re: Has Rick Comley jumped the shark?

I can't think of a college coach that has left, in any sport, for any reason, that didn't have a contract extension sitting on the books. It's not going to stop anything from happening, in any sport.

BTW, to answer the original question: The AD has set up the shark jumping, the coach is just riding the bike...

I was thinking about the "Happy Days" episode when Fonzie jumped the shark tank on his motorcycle... Silly me.. ;-)

Merry Christmas to all the MSU posters!

I don't feel like reading the posts but I do say that after seeing him in that hat at the big chill, yes, he has.

Re: Has Rick Comley jumped the shark?

I'll just say these four things, then casually walk away from this thread...

1.) I like Comley. I really do. He's a good ambassador to the university and an overall nice guy.

2.) I really don't want to be one of those "Fire Comley!" people. I just like the guy too much, and he does deserve a certain amount of respect after 2007.

3.) Noting points one and two, for Rick's sake and for this program's sake, I pray to any and all religious deities that he finally figures out how to pull this team out of the nosedive it's in right now. Problem is, Comley isn't giving me any reason to believe he will do so this year. Though I genuinely hope the second half of this season will be better, I could see us losing at least another ten games, further wicking away any leftover interest this fanbase has in MSU hockey. This is a point of critical mass, and the program feels as if it's on life support - we may have no other choice but to make a change at the end of the season. Question is, does Hollis know about this?

4.) There's, like, 20 deer outside my apartment window that just don't want to leave. Should I be concerned?

:D I appreciated the attempt at "old school", but he and Newton looked like they got a 2-for-1 deal on something between Tom Landry and Herr Detweiler. I'm sure they were going for the Vince Lombardi.

"What the hell's going on out there!?"

He does. But he's hoping to keep quiet about it so nobody notices when it terminally flatlines.
