Harvard Women's Hockey 2011-2012: Taking the Next Step

Re: Harvard Women's Hockey 2011-2012: Taking the Next Step

From other threads, below is the recruit list for the next 2 seasons for Harvard - 9F, 4D, 2G. Even if a couple fall out in the admissions process you have 2+ lines, 3 to 4 D, and 1 to 2 G in just these 2 classes. This includes as many as 5 U18 national team players. I don't think that the college hockey world will weep for the Crimson any time soon.......but given the above discussion, it will be interesting to see if all of the 2013-2014 recruits actually make it through the admissions process (they mostly come from strong schools). Any player with questionable academics on this list has to be a little afraid of being the one that doesn't make it through so that the men's basketball team can make it back to the NCAA's.

2012-2013 Harvard
Dylanne Crugnale ..............F ..............................(NAHA) ..............................Laguna Niguel, CA
Miye D’Oench ....................F ....................(New Jersey Rockets) ......................................, NJ
Taylor Marchin ..................D ........................(Little Caesar's) ................................Algonac, MI
Emerance Maschmeyer ......G ............(CAN 18s/Lloydminster Bobcats) ...................Bruderheim, AB
Mary Parker ......................F .............................(Assabet/Nobles) ............................Acton, MA

2013-2014 Harvard
Hilary Lloyd ……................ F ……….........(Mississauga Chiefs) ...........................…………Toronto, ON
Maeve McMahon .............. F …….............. Groton/Wizards ................................................. MA
Brianna Laing .................. G ......................USA U18s/Nobles/Assabet ................ Marblehead, MA
Robyn White ................... D ……………….......... Nobles/Assabet……………….…………….........……….... MA
Sydney Daniels .................F .................(USA 18s/Westminster/Assabet) ...............Southwick, MA
Briana Mastel ...................D .....................(USA 18s/Choate/Assabet)...................Wallingford, CT
Natasha Rachlin ...............D ......................(USA 18s/Nobles/Assabet).....................Brookline, MA

Per the little Caesar's web site:

To Harvard:

Abigail Harris..................D..................Little Caesars U-19 (????, MI?)

To Yale:

Taylor Marchin................D.................Little Caesars U-19 (????, MI?)

Straight-up one player/one player trade? Cash? Player(s) to be named later?

Taking your buddy's admission

Taking your buddy's admission

Think that a lot of U-19s would like to swap each others' college acceptances? There was actually a guy in my class (not a hockey player) who impersonated a friend who had been accepted but chose to go to Yale. He wrote a letter to the admissions committee in the friend's name revoking "his" previous decision and told his thrilled parents that Harvard required the first semester's tuition to be paid by a bank (as opposed to a personal) check. He arrived using the friend's identity and apparently did all right until the bursar's office sent out the second semester tuition bill directly to the friend's startled parents. The punishment was not merely expulsion: they invoked a 17thC punishment called expungement which consists of deleting the miscreant's name from all university records; an especially fitting punishment since it was the friend's name, after all, that was expunged.

Angela Ruggiero will be a featured guest on Bob Costas' new program on the NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) on Wednesday at 10pm EDT. The program is focusing on college sports so I don't know how much time Rugger will have on the show but hopefully she'll be able to talk up women's hockey.

Might be that she's there to talk the Women's World Championships. Universal Sports (another NBC Sports channel) is broadcasting US-Canada on 4/7 and the gold medal game on 4/14. http://www.iihf.com/channels1112/ww/tv-listings.html Corporate synergy.

In which case, I'm sure they'll be giving her plenty of time. I wonder if she'll be involved in the broadcasts at all. I didn't watch last year when Universal had the games so I don't know who broadcasted them. Could possibly have AJ Mleczko involved as well, seeing as she did color with Doc Emrick for the 2010 Olympics.
