Harvard @ RPI (10/29); RPI & Union @ Harvard & Dartmouth (11/1 & 11/2)

Might be a better name for it. The Toilet Bowl would have a nice ring to it, too.
The winner would be flush with success.

Re: Harvard @ RPI (10/29); RPI & Union @ Harvard & Dartmouth (11/1 & 11/2)

I'm expecting a convincing win from RPI tomorrow. RPI has started the year off great and looks to be living up to its billing as the preseason team to beat in the ECAC.

Harvard's D will continue to be makeshift (ie, Brayden Jaw is a forward who played D against Bentley) as those folks impacted in last year's scandal still are not dressed. These would include Max Everson & Pat McNally, both are Top 4 defenseman so it's a big loss. Haravdr will get them back for their 8th game this year.

Harvard's top line is very good. Vesey, Criscuolo, and heralded frosh Alex Kerfoot bring a lot of speed, skill, and finish. Harvard is very young (partially unitentionally so due to the scandal), as 7 of the 18 skaters are freshman.

I'm expecting a 5-2 RPI win or something along those lines as these are 2 teams that are in very different places right now.

Here's to a good game with no injuries!

I'm heading to Bright for Saturday's game, haven't been there in about 10 years. Any local knowledge of where to park, etc. would be appreciated.

I give up. Who is it @ the 1:39 mark? Benny Mayo?

The new kid on the block, Sam Mayasich, whom I believe is doing video work.

Ah. Thought he was too old for Benny. Thanks.

Re: Harvard @ RPI (10/29); RPI & Union @ Harvard & Dartmouth (11/1 & 11/2)

Good start-usual let down in the second-sloppy third-turning on the pressure in OT could not get us a win. Some ties are good ties-tonight was not one of them. Those last 3 goals-just not defending well and coach must have seen it as he changed up defensive pairings a bit after that third goal against. Seems harvard has more offensive capability than many would have thought. They controlled a good part of the last two periods and our forecheck just seemed invisible. Let's make this coming road trip count-Go Red!!!

Re: Harvard @ RPI (10/29); RPI & Union @ Harvard & Dartmouth (11/1 & 11/2)

We had about 15 minutes of satisfactory hockey in the first period and scored 3 goals during it. The rest of the game, aside from OT, was like the late part of the game vs UNH except way worse. The guys literally couldn't connect on a pass in the third period and were desperately and blindly trying to send pucks down the boards just to get them out of the zone. At least vs UNH, despite putting no pucks on net, it didn't feel like we were completely scrambling for 20 minutes. Can't say the same for tonight.

Credit to Harvard for not phoning it in when down early.

Indeed. Their pressure on the puck carrier was tenacious most of the night. RPI seems to be quickly building a habit of not putting teams away once they get them on their heels, and when a team starts fighting back it seems we don't have an answer for it.

Friday night's game and how RPI responds should be interesting.

Excluding the SHU games 10 goals in the first 31 minutes and 2 goals in the last 29 minutes with 1 of the 2 coming in the third.

Crimson showed some fight tonight coming back against a good team on the road. Lots of talent upfront that should improve during the season as the freshman gain experience.

Thanks to RPI TV. Very impressive feed and knowledgeable game called by the announcers. And all for no charge...wish more schools would do the same.

I recommend parking at the football stadium lot for $10 or at the HBS nearby for $5.

Should be a good game on Friday.

My game recap...From neutral observer, here's some thoughts:

- RPI seemed to beat Harvard to every loose puck in first, but got complacent.
- Harvard's Kerfoot, Malone, Hart all looked good.
- Haggarty is fun to watch with his physicality and shot.
- Zalewski was tremendous on the PK.
- RPI will be a very good team if they can get to the point of playing a full 60 minutes.

That has been the mantra of EHF for a long time now-and never more obvious than last night. Harvard is by no means a pushover and i feel vastly underrated by many (just see Vics pick the standings thread for example). But up 3-0 after 15 minutes should have made for a huge advantage-we need to learn how to adapt our play to the situation. Although the score read 3-0, it did not appear that we were outplaying them(other than on the scoreboard). Grabbing that early lead-fortunate or not-we just had to play even with them for 45 minutes and we just did not. They were faster, more aggressive, and maintained their composure and forecheck while we did not. Scotty made the saves but our defense and backcheck did not get to and clear rebounds and we just gave them chances that we should not have. If we get to see a post game interview, i would imagine we will see the steam coming out of SA's ears. He maintains his calmness but he is one fiery guy and he had to be a 5 alarm blaze by the end of the game last night. This coming weekend on the road now becomes even bigger than it might have been before. Go Red!!!

His comment was that "we had a lot of passengers tonight". I don't think that is accurate, however, he is driving the bus!
