Let me be the first to raise this question about next year's group of 14 forwards: will/should Katey attempt to roll three relatively equal lines like last year, or concentrate power in two lines?
There are five forwards returning from last year's top three lines, conveniently divided into 2 centers, 2 RW and 1 LW. The 10th forward showed plenty of versatility filling in for various injured players on the top lines and also centering the fourth line that outscored the entire BU tam in the Beanpot 3-2. So she could either be the remaining LW on the second line, with the entire third line up for grabs among 4 returning lettermen and 4 frosh, or she could center the third line in a configuration that had 2 top-six players and one emerging player on each of the three lines.
My 2 cents worth is that it would be fun to try out the three equal line approach in some of the less challenging games and prudent to rely on two top-heavy lines against some of the middle-ranked ECAC teams that upset Harvard last year, and open for eventual decision, after the relative skills of the depth forwards have been ascertained, which approach is likelier to succeed against the best opponents.
