I'm totally drained. What a weekend. Between the men's b-ball game and this series, wow. Yale won't soon forget how this season ended for either b-ball or hockey.

I was scared silly that after not scoring on the five minute major PP, we would somehow lose in the second OT. But Vesey came through big time as he has all season. Our PP will need to be much better against Quinnipiac. We can't afford to miss out on those opportunities.

Fortunately Quinnipiac had to play a tough three game series against Union and apparently Anas, one of their better players, got hurt yesterday so he may or may not be available on Friday. Regardless, we need to bring our "A" game to beat them. They did a number on us at Bright-Landry so I'm sure the coaching staff will have plenty to clips to show the team what they need to do to come away with a "W".

Given the upsets in HE, where do we stand at Pairwise? I'm guessing we have to win Friday to get in? Or win the tournament?

Lake Placid. For a while, I was thinking we'd stay at the Northwoods Inn, but the reviews are really consistently bad. I am looking at the Crowne Plaza now, which looks quite nice. Any other recommendations in the immediate vicinity? Just me and the kids.

And how about Olympic sites or other activities, particularly for the kids? Not sure we're quite ready for the bodsled run. Thanks!

According to the pairwise calcualtor, all things being equal, which they never are, under any scenario, you have to win the tournament. Even if you beat Q, if you then lose to Colgate or St. Lawrence you end up 16th which means your out.

Question - with the depth that Harvard has, it seems that you do not give your stars much of a rest. It feels like other teams are making line changes left and right but Harvard is resting its top two lines much less than other teams do. Any thoughts on this? I would think that you would be rolling 4 lines fairly evenly.

Olympic museum is nice though it won't eat up a lot of your time.

Absolutely exhausted driving back from that game last night. Harvard was rolling four lines until near the end of the third. Fourth line center Ellis seemed to knock himself unconscious on a stanchion in front of the Harvard bench and didn't come out until the second over time I believe. Pretty much only the first two lines playing in overtime. Yale goalie Lyon is unreal, though the Yale defensive plan is kinda boring in that they clench up together in front of the net a la rangers. Yale tried to get a home run pass almost all of Saturday night. 4pm game on Friday is kinda hard to make when its a 5 hour drive...

The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort Lake Placid, NY is TERRIBLE !!!! That is the only experience I have. Teams usually stay at the Marriott.

Yale D plan might be boring as you say but it's certainly effective. Given your edge in speed, the games would have been out of hand without that D plan. And I laughed at your throwing a shot at the Rangers. Seems that D plan is working quite well this year.

Let's give Yale a heck of a lot of credit. I am not a big Allain fan, but he has shown a great ability to adapt a system based on what he has to work with. Yale was down offensively this year so they had to play the game that they played. No way are they going to outscore and outskate Harvard. In years past, Allain showed more of an offensive oriented system when he had the caliber of players to play that system effectively.

Heck of a series and again a heck of an effort by Yale. No team deserved to lose that game and While tough, Yale should hold their heads high.

For Harvard, time to turn the page, get hydrated and rested. Quinny was in a similar battle so both teams will have to overcome that. Colgate and SLU should be much fresher.

Forget the PWR, just win!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn last year, walking distance to the rink and has an indoor pool for the kids, highly recommend , if you want to pay. I also did the bobsled which was the best $80 I ever spent for 45 seconds of sheer terror. Ice skating on the olympic oval, if it is open, or skating on the lake. Lake Placid Brewery had good food and beer, right next door to the Hampton.

Absolutely it worked for them, just the change in the meta game of hockey has shifted towards that and the result is many over time games.

We do roll four lines pretty consistently but in a win or go home scenario, I'm sure Teddy felt he had to go with his best. And let's not forget that Tyler Moy got us going last night and he is now playing third line center. That's a luxury a lot of teams would like to have on their roster.

Agree. I just hope that Teddy takes it easy on them this week in practice. They don't have much time to recover and as you say, Quinnipiac had a tough series this weekend and may be without Anas on Friday. So it could all equal out in the end.

The series could have gone either way. Both teams had chances and we could have won this in two straight had we had some good fortune on Saturday (I'm thinking Alex Kerfoot and Sean Malone here). McNally made such a difference and hopefully he'll be okay for Friday. Tough dude.

We owed Yale big time for all the beatings they have inflicted on us in recent years. So I'm not weeping for them in the slightest.

In terms of PWR, yeah it didn't look good. But the team was far from dead otherwise. We smoked Brown and could have won this series in two straight had we not hit pipes and crossbars. We still have a lot of work to do to get to the NCAAs but at least we now have a chance to create havoc. If you love college hockey, next weekend is one to savor.

Picked a good weekend to visit my mother-in-law in PA, we attended the bball game at the Palestra on Saturday and the game last night at the Whale. Very happy for the guys on the hockey team, they hung in there and pulled out the win. Got a huge opportunity with the 5 minute major and when Esposito lost the puck on the breakaway after deking out Lyon, but still scrapped. Micalek was huge. Sorry we won't be able to go up to Lake Placid; I liked it better when the tournament was in Albany. But after having doubts about this year's team, I have to hand it to them, they play with a lot of guts. Hope the tournament is on a decent network, not Fox College Sports.

Playing around with the Pairwise Predictor, I find that Harvard can survive a loss in the ECAC finals to Colgate, still landing in at #14. That is modeled with favorite higher seeds winning elsewhere, though it seems fairly robust. It is not the case with a St. Lawrence win, however. And wins by UML and BU are important as well of course.

If we get to the finals and play Colgate, I like our chances even more. We match up well against them and our two games against them this year were no contests. And we didn't have McNally or Blackwell for those games.

Against SLU, another matter altogether. We don't match up against very well with them. But who knows in a one and done...?

Congratulations. You guys have really had some tough luck this season, and I'm glad you'll get to showcase all that talent in LP. Just not against us, please.
