Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Figured I'd do a quick analysis of recruits for next year and where they may slot in. Overall analysis is that Harvard will be better at forward and weaker on the back end.

Current Team loses the following:

Steve Michalek -G (SR)
Max Everson - LD (SR)
Patrick McBNally - LD (SR)
Tommy O'Regan - LF (SR)
Mike Seward - LF (SR)
Ryan McGregor - LF (SR)

These can obviously change, but for now, this is how I would pencil them in (I assume that planned recruiting is largely done for next year)

Michael Lackey (G) - Replacement for Michalek and will compete with Madsen & Traber for mins next year
Viktor Dombrovsky (LD) - Replacement for McNally since he is a puck mover
Ryan Donato (LF) - He will be a top 6 forward next year for sure, likely on 2nd line to start
Lewis Zerter Gossage - RF. Comes in with similar profile to Seb Lloyd and Luke Esposito
Francois Lemelin - LF. Depth forward whose stock has really declined since his commitment
Riley Hunt - RF. Depth forward who has faced a ton of injury issues

If I had to project next year's lineup (assuming no early defections and early arrivals)

Vesey - Kerfoot - Criscuolo
Donato - Esposito - Hart
Lloyd - Moy - Horton
Tringale - Malone - Zielonka

Dombrovsky - Bergin
Newell - Jaw
Sherman - Anderson

Lackey

Harvard is going to have a TON of quality forward depth which will make competition fierce - Zerter Gossage, Blackwell (subject to concussion issues), Lemelin, Hunt, Caffrey, Gozzo, Ellis

Defenseman depth - Guiltinan, Begoon, Aiken

Goalie - Madsen, Traber

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

No Kerfoot tonight vs Princeton. Moy goes up to 1st line. Malone dressing and centering 3rd line. No Blackwell.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Beats Princeton 4-3. Outshot them 55-25

I only heard some of the third period and the boys sounded like they had control until the last few minutes. Surprised by the final score but Hobey isn't the easiest place to win a game. Is Kerfoot injured? Hope not but good to see Malone back in.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

What happened to the goalie from Canada who was committed here? From montreal.
Committed last december for this year but never showed?? kid has upside.

Frederic Foulem? He's at Shattuck and still committed as far as I know. Expected to arrive for 2016-2017 season.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Harvard was very fast and aggressive against Princeton... just couldn't finish numerous opportunities. Princeton goaltender made several key saves on flurries in front of the net. H could have put Princeton away in the first period as the Tigers were overwhelmed but then let them back in the game with a PP goal in 2nd period. H is a good team. Tough test tonight at Quinnipiac.

What Harvard players are still missing and expected to come back? Did some player just come back for the Princeton Game? Don't you have some really good forward who is still out? Injured? When will Harvard be at full strength?

Sean Malone came back last night and score 1 goal and had 2 assists. He's a sophomore from the USNDT and was all rookie last year.

Alex Kerfoot (centers top line) was out last night vs Princeton. Not sure of status tonight. Expected him to play vs Princeton. One of the best players on the team so any extended loss for him would be significant.

Other injury is Colin Blackwell who has been battling concussion issues for last year or so.

Don't forget Newell. I still think he should be getting more minutes. I'm not convinced that Jaw is the real deal. His positioning isn't the greatest.

I thought the same thing, but wondering if Newell is odd man out. He played against BU (Newell) so he also may have had a setback.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Another night. Another ranked opponent. Another W. After a slow start, the boys came through with a biggie. Michalek stood tall and the team's depth showed up again. Simply amazing.

Didn't like the way the game ended with Zielonka and Anderson getting tossed. I know that Q-Pac had some issues with Cornell - are they getting a rep as a less than clean team? What's with the extracurricular stuff? They have too much skill for that.

Oh well, who cares. Can't wait for the Rivalry on Ice game at Madison Sq. Garden. We so owe Yale a vicious beating. It's time.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Harvard with a solid 5-2 win against Quinny on the road. Watched it through Quinny's free Web video (thanks!).

What is great about this Harvard team is they show no panic and can really finish. Quinny had a stretch in the 2nd period where they were all over Harvard. I think the SOGs were 10-2 at one point. Harvard did not take dumb penalties, but stayed composed, played their game, and the game eventually turned in its favor. And Michalek was a beast tonight. The best player for Harvard.

There was a 5 minute call on McNally with 45 secs left in the game which was garbage in my mind, but other than that, a fairly clean game. #16 on Quinny took a whack at Michalek long after he had the puck in the 2nd period, but Everson quickly cross checked him and the refs let it go.

Quinny is quick and played well. Where they are weak is on the blue line. Lots of give aways and a general lack of composure. Teams like Harvard who are fast and skilled will take advantage of that all night long....and they did!

Harvard has earned the break, though I wish they would keep playing given how hot they are. Kerfoot was out again tonight so hopefully this 3 week break will give him time to heal. Next real game is home against RPI on Dec 30th.

Both, did McNally get tossed? I know Anderson and Zielonka got the gate. Did McNally go as well? If they are suspended, hopefully it is for the Red Stars game although I have a feeling that won't be the case. Here's hoping they don't get punished.
