BTW, it might be nasty down there, but it is a bitter artic cold up here, 7 hours north. That cold is probably to blame for the snow further south. Heading down there tomorrow for the start of the the second half, vehicle fully equipped with snow tires (Mandatory up here) and other winter gear. Canadians are not phased by a little snow.

Guess the players baulked at shoveling it themselves? Should be a good game indoors, though, at the still undetermined time. Hope ivyleaguedigitalnetwork.com knows when to broadcast!

Also Molly Schaus was not born in Mass, and if I recall, Alex Carpenter was born in New Jersey...though I coulld be wrong on that.p

The official US Hockey roster lists Molly Schaus from Natick, MA and Alex Carpenter from North Reading, MA. Just going on what has been posted.

I'm guessing that the game will be at 3 or 3:30pm as the men have a game at Bright against BU at 7pm. The 4pm start time tends to run into the incoming crowd to the men's game when they have these back to back situations.

Hometowns aren't birthplaces. Just setting the record straight. Though, yes, it is nice to see a solid representation of Massachusetts residents.

I would guess that 1) Fenway Park is a union shop, so no non-union shovelers, 2) If there were high school games scheduled and school was cancelled those games would have to be cancelled as well. Given the expense of opening up the facility there would be no sense in incurring those costs for one game.

I for one am happy to hear the game has been rescheduled as Harvard-NU should be a good game. Call me a fair weather fan, a sunshine patriot but I did not want to pay a large sum to go to a game where I would freeze my arse off in a seat half a mile away from the ice surface. Harvard called all women's season ticket holders when the decision to do Frozen Fenway was made and gave us the option of getting an extra ticket to the men's game of our choice and I chose an extra BU ticket next to my season ticket seat.

Looking forward to a double header on Saturday.

Right but for the most part, they are the birthplaces so I had no reason to suspect otherwise. And yes, it is great to see such a strong MA delegation.

Not sure what all the fuss was about that storm last night. The interstates (87,90 and 95) were clear sailing and devoid of traffic today. Was a great pictoresque ride down to the lower New England area. Puck drop at 7pm :)

Good but uneven game today at Bright. The Crimson alternated between being very sharp/aggressive and slow as molasses. There was some sloppiness as you might expect after a long layoff. The story of the game was Northeastern's goalie. She was brilliant and kept the Lady Huskies within striking distance with some ten bell saves. Harvard also failed to finish on a number of chances which has really plagued them all season.

First goal of the game was a nice passing play on Northeastern's PP which resulted in a wide open and look and goal just outside the crease. Harvard tied it on a deflection by Mary Parker who was on her knees when she tipped a Marisa Gedman shot past Dejardins. The second period featured some brutal officiating that led to several Northeastern PPs. On one of them, Gina MacDonald stole the puck at the Huskie blue line, went in alone and tucked a backhand shot past Dejardins. It was literally like putting thread through the eye of a needle - Gina had so little room but she got it done. Northeastern did a better job of cutting off Harvard rushes and forcing the Crimson to the boards during this period.

Third period saw Harvard re-establish control until the latter stages when Northeastern put on a full court press and tied the game with a little over five minutes left on a soft backhand shot that Maschmeyer should have stopped. It was her only miscue of the day - she made plenty of great saves herself. The Crimson got the winner on a nice passing play that resulted in Syd Daniels re-directing a shot past Dejardins' right pad with a little over two minutes left. Harvard had to hang on in the final minute and withstood a furious Huskie onslaught.

This wasn't a game to put on the highlight reel. Again, Crowell played the first two lines almost exclusively. The third line just didn't get much ice time today. Also, Abby Frazier got hurt on her only shift and it didn't look good. Hopefully it isn't serious.

A typo, no doubt; they misplaced the second "a." Should read: "UConn has a pension for a rotating pair of netminders this season . . ."

Very generous of them. Of course the goalies have to play a minimum number of games to qualify, I imagine. :rolleyes:

Re missing players.

There have been some questions in this thread about a couple of players from last year who are not here this year.

At the Northeastern game I was chatting with both Abigail Harris and Molly Tissenbaum. Abigail was home on a break but is studying abroad in Amsterdam this year. She told me she has been staying in shape and playing a lot of pickup hockey in Amsterdam and is looking forwward to being back on the team next fall.

Molly, as some of you know, suffered a concussion in a car accident and is on leave of absence but is also planning to return next year.

I've lost count - between these 2, returning national team players, and committed recruits, how many players are on next year's Harvard team?

Father is Scott Fusco, former Harvard all-American, Hobey Baker winner, and US Olympian.

A lot. A current team of 18 loses 2 to graduation ( Parker, E. and McDonald); gains 3 from Sochi (Pucci, Picard and Fry), reclaims 3 from leaves (Harris, Tissenbaum and Armstrong); and welcomes 5---now 6!---freshmen. That's 28. Something's gotta give. (All this very unofficial, of course, based solely on what's available to the general public of forum haunters.) Will certainly add some interesting twists to the perennial short-bench complaints.

Correction: I see that Bradley Fusco is 2015-16, so we're back down to a manageable 27.
