Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

I'm sure there are some people on here happy for our conference. I am not one of those people. For me, this is not the worst possible Frozen Four title game (assuming Quinnipiac doesn't blow it here) but it's pretty darn close.

So much for being the reigning national champions in the league.

Did you "really" believe that Harvard with Donato would hold onto that record?

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

You went to Harvard - face it - you life (like your team) sucks!

Wow. A Yalie getting it up! Yale, for the first time in decades, gets to a Frozen Four. Face it, there is not much difference between H and Y, except that H was first in most things... maybe not the school newspaper, but that is about it. ;) However, I'd take the Yale coach over Donato any day.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

Well - except for basketball - didn't half the team get kicked out for cheating in that hooked on phonics correspondence course?

Hooked on Phonics? No, that is Cornell Hotel Management School, not The College! Say, are you heading down to George W. Bush's "presidential" library opening? I hear there are a lot of books with pictures in 'em.

Al,

Like love, success is infinite - there is no cap or quota. I couldn't' be happier for Yale and if nothing else, this should serve as a pretty good offseason motivator for this team and the conference.

Onward and upward and here's to Yale bringing home the hardware.

..best piece of advice i've heard in a long time. Well put.
:)

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

It's not really a Harvard/Donato thing as a the entire league has been terrible in the NCAAs thing. It lasted this long.

I remember Cornell had a few FFs 6 years or so ago. Wasn't Union there last year? ECAC has had a good showing, especially since most of the schools in the league are Ivies.

No titles though, in 23 years. So I'll stand by my statement.

The ECAC and the NCAA's of recent

Year, #Teams, Teams, Combined Record, (number made it to the FF)

2011 2 ECAC teams made it, Union and Yale, combined record in NCAA 1-2, number in FF (0)
2012 2 ECAC teams made it, Union and Cornell, combined record in NCAA 3-2, number in FF (1)
2013 3 ECAC teams made it, Union and Yale and Quinnipiac, combined record in NCAA 8-2, number in FF (2)

Looks like progress .... :)

What about 2014 ? Hopefully Harvard should be in there somewhere soon ...

You have trouble counting to five on one hand, don't you? Admit it, it's okay. Our society is now built around handouts and bailouts. You can put your hand down now. :)

Al, I couldn't disagree with you more. Sure it hurts that Yale is in the Championship game instead of us but so be it. They deserve to be there. So does Q-Pac. Neither did well in the ECAC tournament but we won our championship after losing in the ECAC semis to Vermont. After having a 2-0 in the third period too.

This Frozen Four, heck this NCAA tournament has been a great showcase for the ECAC. We need that to recruit better players. It helps all the schools. It's now up to Donato and staff to demonstrate that they are up to the challenge of fielding a championship team. No excuses anymore now that Yale has made it to the Championship game. If Teddy can't do it, then it's time to find someone else who can. Let's stop feeling sorry for ourselves and start building a program that can make us proud to be Harvard alums.

Well, your statement is misleading. The Ivies, especially rivals Cornell and Yale have had a better showing than Harvard in the last decade. Plus it is a moot point, as Yale spanked QU with a shutout.

I did see a Yalie, on ESPN, holding a sign that said, "Where's Harvard?" Telling, don't you think?

While the Elis soar, Harvard is preparing for another season with Donato (sigh)... how do you think next year will go? Suppose the faithful here will be touting all the recruits coming in, even though they are not guaranteed to be developed under Donato. Sad. I'd love to see Donato be shown the door, and I'd love nothing more than to see Harvard win a second banner.

Bloody likely. How many losing season with Donato must this program take? We've had very good recruits commit, come in, play, not get developed and leave (some early too). Donato is the problem with Harvard hockey, and he should be shown the door.

Congratulations, from this Harvard Alum, to Yale for winning the National Championship.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

Yale beats Harvard 1-1. I think the Harvard fans can see the humour in that statement. You do have more title appearances however. Yale's championship should make for an even greater rivalry if that is possible. Interesting in that 5 of the 6 Ivy schools still playing Hockey have made title game appearances. Princeton has not but can boast about the home of the Hobey Baker award though. I don't think any other league group comes close to that combination.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

I was surprised to hear the Yale fans chanting "Harvard sucks" at the finals. It was just like the bu fans with an inferiority complex chanting the same about BC at every game.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

Hoping everyone in the thread and the board is safe from what happened in Boston today. Just awful news.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

Just messaged my brother at BU, he is ok, happened only a few miles from the the BU campus and the city is in total chaos.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013

Hope all the runners are OK. Imagine trudging toward the finish line when the bombs went off.

I was frankly shocked to hear this; no reason for it, and embarrassing. It tarnished for me what was an otherwise magnificent exhibition of fan support.
