Harvard 2024-25: Once More Unto The Breach

I was just thinking of how insidiously distracting our world of sports has become as the fiddle we’re all happy to play while Rome is burning.

Do you not think this is coming to a rink near you?
Hopefully thanks to Harvard’s courage to stand up it won’t come to a rink near the rest of us, or you.

But as things stand it will come. International students across the country are having their visas revoked. As conservative as hockey families supposedly are, things are still extreme enough that I have to think some non American families will rethink sending their daughters here in the fall. Will it be lots? Not sure. Will it be more than zero? Probably.

Harvard has an easy fix. Turn over the records of foreign students engaging in violent and anti-semitic protests. That protects all their other law abiding foreign students. And I find it hard to believe that any foreign hockey families are concerned about sending their children to an American school unless they expect their player to be joining violent protests against Israel.

One of the things Harvard was told to do is report international students to federal authorities if an international student breaks conduct policies going forward. So I can see how that might give some parents pause but maybe I’m wrong. College kids do crazy things for fun that probably are against conduct policies, all the time. I can see how some parents might be nervous about it.

Agreed that antisemitism is abhorrent.

I will say I was shocked to see how much public Federal money Harvard gets when they are a private school. Silly me thought a private college didn't get public money.
