Happy Thanksgiving!!

Slap Shot

I got nothing
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving wherever you may be!

Sadly this is the first year in 7 having lived here we won't be attending an actual gathering and instead we'll be heading to a local restaurant. And with our eldest now in the US it won't be quite the same but we shall endure!!

I am an eternal optimist but having just been home for 2 months, with my eldest son being in the US and now not getting together with our US friends it is going to be very different.

That said we still have so much to be thankful for. My family remains mostly healthy although my sister is currently facing a facial reconstruction if the tumors in her jaw are problematic. I pray for her because she's the greatest human being I've ever met and I love her beyond compare.

Sorry I am drunk - but I truly wish the best for all of you and I hope you have an enjoyable, peaceful, and love filled weekend. Bless all of you!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Slap Shot. I hope your sister is healthy and fully clear very soon.

I have a lot to be thankful for:

That I'm still sober and next week Thursday will mark one year of attending a secular AA.

That I have grad school instructors who have been instrumental in actually healing from trauma and awful things instead of just sticking makeshift bandages on the hurt. That the trauma and difficult stuff hasn't made me bitter and angry at the world and has taught me to meet pain with compassion and pleasure with non- attached appreciation.
That I can still have a fitness regimen and mostly healthy lifestyle even though the talonavicular joint on my right foot is bone on bone.

That I've had mostly affirming jobs and coworkers and supervisors who are kind, compassionate, and empathetic.

That I have Mama Bears and Mom-type figures who can offer support and guidance and Mom hugs.

That I'm finally making friends in the Grand Rapids area, all thanks to a photographer and her crew.

That for years of abuse and flagellation and covering everything, I'm finally comfortable in my body. Enough to be photographed in a sports bra and in boudoir shoots.

That I can smile.
