Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

It adds up when you want to take a family of four...not that I have a family to take or anything.

In 1993 it cost my father $30 for 4 games in Worcester per seat.

While the prices today aren't particularly out of line with current game day costs around the country, when it went that high, they certainly were.

That being said, the NCAA counts on us to make everything else profitable so instead of lowering to advert the game they keep it out of range of spontaneous interest... IMO, the prices should be lower than the going AHL price or comparable.

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

Also, besides not being allowed to post anything about one's conference being best, the same should apply to not being allowed to post anything about one's team being best. This last grievance applies to particular Gophers and Eagles fans.

Hey, at least BC has won three national titles in five years and are the defending champs. Can't think of a better reason to boast ;)

Boasting by fans who didn't actually attend the school they are boasting about. :D

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

USCHO mods (priceless) and people that spend all game long staring at their phones to update their twitter/facebook status rather than actually watching the game.

And idiots that go up and down the aisle and into their seats while the puck is in play.

BC guys who think Jerry York's coaching genius and accomplishments rub off on them somehow making them hockey savants.

I didn't realize that attending a school was a prerequisite to being a fan of their team(s) but thanks for clearing that up for me

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

No worries, sterlippo. I go back to the Ceglarski days...it's not like I jumped aboard in 2001. I've seen it all ;)

FWIW, college hockey would be even more irrelevant than it is if it weren't for subway alums, etc. I'm certainly not the only one.

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

Nice job guys. And I totally agree.

While we're at it, why don't we address the foolish NCAA practice of putting hosting + no 1st round intra-conference matchups ahead of the concerns of a #1 seed that potentially gets bumped because of this out of whack priority.

I would get rid of host schools in general. As for intra conference teams should only be able to move one spot. Rank the teams 1-16 and they can only move one spot. 7 can be a 6 or 8; 11 can be only 10 or 12.

Indeed. I try to avoid doing this. I paid my money to watch a game and I'm going to watch it!

As for your second point...that is particularly annoying. My seats are right on the aisle and people always go up and down. It often blocks my view of the game :(

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

Oh and one last one, how about the creeps that follow around 14 and 15 year old boys because they are committed to their school (or might commit)? Yea, no that's not creepy or anything. I bet that's what Jerry Sandusky said too: "There are a lot of people that like little boys just like me your Honor!!"

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

Nick, I believe your location should be HOTel cORAL esSEX. Can't remember the name of the movie, but a classic 80's gratuitous nudity flick. :D

Re: Happy Festivus ... Airing of Grievances

With appologies to Lettermen, here's my "Top Ten Things Wrong With College Hockey":
1. Full face cages/shields.
2. Players who fearlessly carry their sticks too high...see the connection?
3. While I grudging accecpt the need for the "media time-outs" there's NO freaking way there need to be 3 per period.
4. UM's stupid, ugly striped helmets.
5. Barry Melrose.
6. Poor officiating.
7. 4 poorly attended regionals...suggest 2 eight team regionals, each feeding two survivors to Frozen Four.
8. Barry Melrose
9. The NCHC. May all their member schools burn in hell.
10. Did I mention Barry Melrose?

Merry Christmas to you too.

People that hate Berry Melrose so much. He's pretty annoying but stop making him the scapegoat for all things relating to ESPN's lack of hockey coverage. Totally agree on number 3.

Left out an important one.

Please, somebody find a home for Alabama-Huntsville. Sad that this has to rise to the level of a "grievance".
Since the B1G started this latest round of dominos, Make UAH the 15th team in the Big10:D

Do they not have ushers that prevent this? At Yale you are prevented by an usher from walking the stairs until the next stoppage in play. Stricter than a tennis match.
