Hail to those . . . Michigan @ UNH, Sat 10/16

Re: Hail to those . . . Michigan @ UNH, Sat 10/16

Now that this is UM's next game, a short update- Matt Rust didn't play in the game against the U18 team. Still have not heard why, or if he will be playing this weekend.

Do you think UM even prepared for the U-18 team?

Or do you think they used it as a practice mid week and have spent the week on UNH?

Just curious, if it were me I would focus on the game the counted and let the U-18 game just happen, play younger guys in need of ice time, play with line combos, try some stuff on the PP and PK to see how pairs worked etc.

Little bit of both. For sure, there were guys playing that we don't normally see. But they probably took the game seriously enough.

What was interesting was that Hogan was in goal- based on the "rotation", it should have been Hunwick. So if Hunwick plays this weekend, it kind of says that Red has more confidence in him over Hogan- which is quite ineresting.

There wasn't too much line mixing- mostly to deal with Rust.

Lynch also left the game in the second period, I believe. I thought Deblois had a real nice game last night.

You play every game to win but there are times it is clear there are other things going on. I would also guess that there probably wasn't much game planning from Michigan.

Rust left the BGSU game with an injury. He was on the radio broadcast Tuesday and said he could have played against the NTDP, but they held him out for precautionary reasons. Should be good to go against UNH.

Has anyone tried the UNH video stream? Good/Bad? Is it worth the $8 for the hockey game?

As far as college video streams go, it's average. Just one camera and they use the audio from the UNH radio broadcast but some video is better than no video.

George, I know in the last two yrs, Richard (Snively) has had it (the season pass) and said it is pretty unreliable and low quality. I have no idea if it is improved for this season, but I would be wary of paying for it until I had a better review of it. If you don't care whether or not you get quality for the 8 bucks, go ahead and get it. If you do, don't. I'll be camping this weekend and will miss the game, but will be back on Sunday and hopefully can get time to listen to the archived game.

Really just want UNH to play well. Win or lose, this early season match-up is another chance to show that this is NOT a rebuilding season and we can challenge for honors with this team. Still not sure if that is possible, but these are the sorts of games that help us to gauge our potential and potential for success later in the season.

I watched the exhibition a few weeks ago and while the quality was not great, it never cut out or anything.

In from DC for the weekend with a Michigan buddy. Any time we've attended a hockey game together, (in support of the other's team), our teams have lost, the worst case bring the FF in St. Paul. Given that we face each other tonight, it would seem an impossibility that both of our squads will lose, though perhaps we'll make history with a dual forfeit.

Is there a good place to catch the Mich-Iowa game beforehand? Acorns? Libby's?

I'm pretty sure the New England Center is closed.

Yup. They've tured half of it into dorms, called Adams Tower West. The restaurant is closed.

Your best bet is Libbys, but Ballards and the Knot also have decent food and TVs.

Great game last night. High flying fast paced action on both ends. Other than special teams, UNH dominated much of the game. Hunwick stood on his head and put on a show in the third and in overtime...

Michigan had a decent amount of people in the visitors section as well as scattered throughout the arena. It was great to see them come out east for a game, wish it could have been 2!

No expectations for this season, but I'm optimistic that we'll have an exciting team to follow in Durham.

Couple of pix from Thompson's 3rd period tying power play goal... extra sweet that Burlon got in the frame with the puck in the net after he taunted the crowd (popped the jersey) after his 3rd period goal, and winked at the linesman on the faceoff just before that goal :)

He was also drawing hearts to Sarah on the glass.
