Her remember when the NRA went against its racist nature and support Philandro Castillo when he was shot? Yeah neither do I because they could give two craps when it is a Black Man who is shot for legally carrying only when it is a White Person. Hell even their membership called them out for it...

The NRA is a cancer.

Oh and to pre-empt the local "Gunz Er Needed and Ermazing!" crowd...Every Other Amendment > 2nd Amendment. The 2nd was fine until a bunch of Cletus' decided it was put their so they could play cowboy.

The people who run the NRA are garden variety sociopathic businessmen. c.f. Phlip Morris, Blackwater, or any drug cartel.

And in case anybody needed the obvious spelled out:

I read a psychological paper earlier today suggesting that “restrictive” masculinity men have a higher % of people responsible for environmental (e.g., lack of conservation values, not supporting clean air/water) and domestic violence. The work contrasted restrictive (fighting, violence) and aspirational (willing to show vulnerability/emotions) models of masculinity, what men thinks defines a “real man.” For example, it explored the overlap among trophy hunting and arrests for abuse of intimate partners, children and animals.

tl; dr: If you marry somebody whose hero is Donald Trump he's going to beat you. Marry somebody whose hero has some brains.

I think our patriarchical society places too much pressure on womyn to marry and have kids and be "traditional housewives." We should b e celebrating the strong and independent womyn who choose to become productive members of society insted of holding up an oppressive and outdated institution.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this post; or the links that this post has...especially the underlined.

I mean, if your hero is Darren Sharper or Bill Cosby, that means you're gonna be raping women, right?

I think there are many more factors than who your "heroes" are. They are a byproduct of deeper issues. If that is what you meant, ok, cool, we're good. I just kind of was taken aback on the association made in your comment.

Obviously. Authoritarians rule their homes as authoritarians and produce little authoritarians. Unfortunately they also produce the most babies because authoritarian women have little to do but spread their legs.

Wars used to fix this, but now that wars kill more civilians than combatants they don't work anymore. Cigarettes are too slow. Bar brawls and DUI don't kill in large enough numbers.

Opiods looks promising. But guns are a maiden's prayer as long as they stay in segregated communities. Moar guns, please. Distribute them like free needles at every Republican function. Maybe the NRA is just a vast, clever eugenics program.
