Guelph at RPI (exhibition) 10/8/23

i really had thought of yesterday as simply a scrimmage but it turned out to be really a good full game to watch. Boys showed up to play. Some good and some surprises, some same old stuff, and some needs improvement. No question though Hotson is the real deal and should be a real asset. Saw a lot to like in the new boys. Sutter is simply the horse we are riding in on and will need to saddle up and ride all season. We have a nucleus to work with up front. Defense is where we will win or lose and could not get a handle on how well we will match up as yet but will watch that aspect more today. Special teams will as always determine many of the outcomes and we just have to be able to pressure with a man advantage well and win the face offs that count. Overall give this scrimmage a B- or C+ but then again, i am used to the old RPI grading system where C's and B's were the most grades given and A's were rare. Will know a bit more after today and certainly after the games up in Maine.

Good period by RPI, I only wish I knew the quality of the opposition.
Again, the new players that joined the team this year look really good.
