Green Bay regional: NoDak vs RPI, Western Mich vs Denver

GB Puck Fan

It's A Great Day For Hockey
Welcome to Green Bay!

If you have any questions about the city, etc, let me know.

The last time GB hosted a regional, the winner won the Frozen Four. Here's hoping the same happens again!

How is Norbert's doing in DIII playoffs? I have not had a chance to follow dIII much.

Re: Green Bay regional: NoDak vs RPI, Western Mich vs Denver

SNC is in the D3 final four this weekend at UMTC's Ridder!

as a follower of RPI and a fan of the Packers since 1966....this is great. How far is Lambeau from where the hockey game will be played. For those in Green Bay you might remember one of RPI's forwards, C.J. Lee who played 3 seasons for the Gamblers before coming to RPI.

How far? Chances are you'll park in Lambeau's lot. Lambeau is across the street!

The hotels within walking distance of the rink: Best Western Midway, Hilton Garden Inn, Days Inn, and Cambria suites.

Tundra Lodge also.

Looks to be a fun regional. If it happens, a DU - UND rematch will be epic.

No love for the Road Star Inn? :p

I'll be there cheering for the Sioux. :o

If its nice the Road Star is OK, but if the weather's poor it's a hike.

Tundra Lodge has an indoor water park that's nice. Take the back streets if walking - not sure if there are sidewalks along Lombardi Ave there...

I don't know if I'd be able to make it to Green Bay, but I'll be listening to WRPI intently. Let's go 'Tute!

DU's Green Bay connection is David Makowski who played for the Gamblers for 2 years:
Before Denver: Played the last two seasons for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) • netted 41 points on 18 goals and 23 assists for the Green Bay, which captured the Clark Cup (playoff) and Anderson Cup (regular-season) championships • named USHL Defenseman of the Year and All-USHL First Team after leading all blueliners in goals and tying for second in points • tied for the league lead among defenseman with nine power-play goals and three shorthanded goals • added a +22 plus/minus rating, 84 PIMs and three game-winning goals • tallied 11 points on one goal and 10 assists in 12 playoff games • helped Green Bay to the Anderson Cup in 2008-09 after tallying 29 points on nine goals and 20 assists in 51 games • named to the All-USHL Second Team • added a +23 plus/minus rating, two power-play goals and one game winning goal

Re: Green Bay regional: NoDak vs RPI, Western Mich vs Denver

Here's hoping RPI doe not suffer from the 'just glad to make it here syndrome'. They have a history of playing very good hockey against the best teams (and playing some very poor games against teams that they should beat). ND, from what I have seen, is a very good team and a real threat for winning it all. I just want to see RPI at their best for this one. Let's Go Red! I like playing in late March for a change.:)

Re: Green Bay regional: NoDak vs RPI, Western Mich vs Denver

Best of luck to all teams involved in this region, gonna be a tough hill to climb for RPI against UND.

Re: Green Bay regional: NoDak vs RPI, Western Mich vs Denver

NoDak's connection is GB alum Derrick LaPointe. He's from Eau Claire, Wis - so likely to have plenty of family.

Closest WMU connex is goalie Nick ****elini, who as a member of the Chicago Steel got into several goalie fights with now-Notre Dame goalie Steve Summerhays.

Re: Green Bay regional: NoDak vs RPI, Western Mich vs Denver

I don't like the match up of Denver and NoDak in this regional...as brianvf said in the Denver thread....it would have been a much better FF match up. Either way, both teams have tests in the 1st round.

Not on the hockey team, but we should get partial credit for this.
