Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

Nice game, some really good goal-tending and can the announcers make any more excuses for the losing, classless team.

I agree completely.

Nice to see big ten money fall flat on its face for once. Even if the Bronco's fall tomorrow (they wont :D) it'll hurt less than handing the tourney to a big ten butt-hurt team. Enthusiasm in the Joe tonight was excellent! Go Western!

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

Congrats techhies on the win. Hope you win tomorrow.

At this point, it's just a matter of positioning for a playoff run like 2010 to keep the tournament streak alive. The back half of the schedule is brutal and is mostly on the road where Michigan has been non-existent.

What'd everyone think of the jerseys? My opinion is I'm going to go on a hunger strike and chain myself to a radiator if they don't stop changing the jersey designs. 16 different jerseys in 3 years.

That was the Michigan team I saw at Munn this year.

Decided to bite the bullet this morning and got tickets for tomorrow. MSU-UM usually draws a large crowd, but I'm doubting that for a consolation game. In the championship I think I'll be a Husky fan.

When it's unadvertised, forget about it. The fans who actually follow the hockey programs and aren't just t-shirt fans will be there.

Huskiefan906;5581672 I am expecting to see Genoe but have a feeling it might be Copley. The former UM angle on the other bench will be fun to see playout with Muckalt and Shields assisting Mel. You know they all want to win the first one against each other.[/QUOTE said:
What a feeling --- great to have one for the good guys- so deserving now please make it 2.

They looked better than on paper, but they channeled the 1970's U of M teams. :D

No kidding. I don't understand the point to throwing back to a dark era of a program. That's like the Detroit Pistons throwing back to their god-awful Teal uniforms.

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

Will WMU get to wear the cream ones? The 4th team usually wears their road sweater both games.
You know I don't know. You assume no, but since they are playing Tech who are wearing golds (which btw are the best looking jerseys in college hockey right now), maybe they will let them wear them in the title game. It would be nice to see those because it is the better of the two.

I'm guessing they have done throwbacks from every other era, and that is why they have chose these. Nothing left to do. Seeing how superstitcious teams are in their jerseys, I'd venture a guess they will never be worn a again.

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

can anyone provide a link to yesterday's highlights? Scarce wins must be savored. The Power of Pearson must be immortalized. The Rising Pheonix must be acclaimed. thx.

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

The 76-77 lost in the NCAA Championship game in OT. Not exactly the dark ages.

Making a Frozen Four was the lone accomplishment in that decade. That's it.

Michigan averaged 17 wins a year back then. That's not exactly good.

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

Huge win. Michigan absolutely needed that. Especially storming back and showing life on offense and strength on defense even without the top 2 defenders.

Guess our trophy will just be temporarily relocated until next year when it will return home to Ann Arbor. Going to be interesting seeing Michigan play an old WCHA rival in Denver.

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

WELL DONE MTU!!!!

You guys will be scary in the nWCHA. This was a major step for future success for your program.

Re: Great Lakes Invitational goes back INSIDE

Someone should put a gun to that dirty Western player's temple and pull the trigger. He has no worth in this world.
