Good stuff that happened this year...

Re: Good stuff that happened this year...

The good news is that I found out shortly before Christmas that I received a $125,000 grant to fund my salary and research in the coming year. :)

The bad news is that despite not being paid by the state of WI I am considered a state employee and thus facing the prospect of a pay cut of up to 10% for the next 2 years.

I've also given up caffeine completely after what has to be at least a 20 year habit of 30-40oz of soda/day. :)

Re: Good stuff that happened this year...

2010 was a roller coaster year for sure in my family. Some of the highs I experienced:

Little g (4 years old) continues to make progress and he has exceeded every doctors prognosis.

Little gII (2 years old) has been a blessing in so many ways.

Mrs. g......she is my better half. Nothing more to say about that.

I was promoted twice in 2010.

My involvement with numerous non profits has opened my eyes in so many ways and made me really grateful for the life I have.

I made a promise to myself early in 2010 to get back into shape and so far I have kept that promise.

Lastly, I saved a few thousand trees by not getting a chance to throw any ticker tape parades in 2010. The MN teams I root for have a tendency to p iss down their legs at every opportunity presented to themselves.

Got a job 1 week after unemployment ran out. Contract position with an outstanding company with potential for permanent (perhaps for the '11 thread!)
Daughter got engaged to a terrific guy.
1 son got a grant to cover his entire sophomore year at college (whew, REALLY needed that one), and my other son graduated.
Helped complete a Habitat for Humanity house for a terrific family in Medway MA
