GM Closing down Saturn

Re: GM Closing down Saturn

I was just thinking the same thing. I bought an Olds Cutlass Supreme; GM closed Oldsmobile down. I bought a Chevy Colorado; The dealership in Verona closed within a year. I had a Saturn; GM just closed IT down.

What car should I buy next??

A Toyota. :D ;)

Re: GM Closing down Saturn

My car is going to be an orphan. :(

BTW, this will continue my streak of having every dealership where I have bought a car close before I sold the car. (I tend to keep cars quite long since I ride my bike more than I drive. This is only my fourth car.)

Did your previous purchase put Studebaker out of business? ;)

If you read the first part of his post again, you'll understand my joke. :)

Yeah, Toyota has slipped a bit - Ford passed them in quality rankings last year. Regardless, you're always going to get people who just have bad luck with certain brands.

Also, the people who've converted to foreign models aren't going to start buying American again overnight, if ever.

Re: GM Closing down Saturn

American-branded cars deserved their beat-down -- they were crap for thirty years, and only the gun-totin', truck-buyin', Census-worker-hangin' crowd kept them in the game as long as they were.

Didn't know I hung census workers or that I toted guns.

Ahh, but Kepler didn't say that only gun-toting, census worker hanging truck buyers bought American vehicles. He said that only those buyers kept the American car companies in business. Meaning that without those buyers, they would have gone under already, even if there was still a small minority of others, such as yourself, buying their products.

/yes, I realize I am a pedantic semantics jerk. :D

Glad you set me straight, I figured that once again he was showing why he is holier than thou

I had an SC2 for about 2 years. Except for the fact that it got beached whenever the snow fell more than a foot deep, it was a kick-***, reliable and halfway cool car for a poor college student. Then I bought my Subaru :D
