French unemployment is at 10%, and they were just the victim of their equivalent of 9/11. I'd say conditions are ripe for fascist electoral gains.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 7 - The Nightmare that Threatens the World!!!

So I saw a "trending" news grab that North Korea says they have the H-Bomb. All I can think about is those French knights in the castle... "I told them we've already got one..."

Death toll in Belgium up to 26-28 now... :(

I guess the guy the captured was going to squeal and the rest went ahead with attacks before they could be stopped.

I'd be lying if this doesn't make me a bit nervous traveling out of MSP International. I'm not afraid of the Somali community so much as I'm scared of the alarming number of individuals who have gone to fight with ISIS and Al Shabbab.

The strategy so far seems to be hitting major targets. (Personally, I would hit minor targets. Blowing up one mall in Omaha would freak out the country much worse than just hitting NYC or DC again.)

Which is why it scares me. There have been dozens of individuals coming out of Minneapolis and we have a very large international airport.

For several years felt that my 25-year-old daughter living in Istanbul was as safe as she would be in any major American City. Now, not so much. It's one thing to stay away from political buildings, embassies and consulates, but the bombings on Istiklal and in the old city were little more like the mall in Omaha Kep mentions, and I think his observation is dead-on. Islamists blow up a school or legion hall in Peoria, and you have some major fear on your hands which would feed directly into the knuckledraggers' hands.

Yeah. She should come home. I'm sure it is an amazing experience but although I am not an alarmist I would say Turkey has moved from the green to the red column in the last two years.

I am in no way shape or form blaming the Europeans here, but questioning their internal security. Are there that many organized and radicalized persons in these countries that they can't keep track of them? Seems they can hit their targets almost at will...:(

I can't help but think we're seeing the slow burn up to something much larger. I don't mean by the terrorists either. I mean by the west.

Moving back in April.

I hope not. I have zero faith in our legal and political institutions if there is ever a truly massive attack. I can imagine us abusing tens of millions of innocents to try to protect ourselves from a few thousand of actual terrorists. And that is of course exactly the situation terrorists are working for: use us to immanentize the eschaton.
