Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I am supposed to close on my refi on Thursday, and the new mortgage guy just told me they had to request a rush payoff quote from my old company and they are extremely slow in getting back to them. I am shocked. Shocked! that they would have bad customer service.

I'm not holding my breath on getting the money from my escrow account, either.

Every interaction you ever have with the financial services industry is a reminder that they truly give zero ****s about you.

Really, it's only that one mortgage company. My new company has been great. My bank has also been generally great.

Grr. I hate feeling stupid. Need to replace my Modem/Router. Spoke to 2 sets of people (transferred a couple of times) on the phone and 2 dif people in store as well as 2 different sets of people from Verizon (more transferring and holding). They ALL said I needed a Router. No mention of the Modem. I buy a router. Set up an apt to install, encrypt, configure, add guest network and add my hard drive as a Y drive to the new router. Guy comes. Tells me I purchased the wrong thing but he will piggyback on my current router and I can call Verizon for the Modem. Supposedly makes my old network inaccessible. Has no idea why they told me they could set up a Y drive. He doesn't do that. He usually sets up home theater set ups. He did fix my wireless printer that has never functioned wirelessly but made me feel awfully stupid because I could have figured it out.

I call Verizon- oh no modems only dual devices. I can't get anything outside of Verizon device which is is not the best. I order one. My kid gets home and gets on the old system, bypassing the supposedly newly encrypted system. I call BB. They will credit the visit, take back the router and get me the right device (which he swears will work). I call to cx the order with Verizon. Get transferred 2 times, once to a guy from a different continent who can't understand that I just want to cx the order and then to a woman who's connection is so bad we can't hear each other. She is not happy because I am talking over her. I couldn't hear her talking and kept saying "what??"

So- Spent 1 h on the phone and another in the store to get the wrong thing. 1.5 hours for the guy to do his thing, not well. 1.5 hours on the phone b/w Verizon and BB after he left. Verizon can't cx my Router/modem order. I will need to bring it to a 'nearby' (10 miles away) UPS to return it. Have to go back to store to return and get new thingy. Will have to take another day to get the GD thing installed- again.

What should have been 1/2 day has turned into something that ate up a part of every day I have been on vacation so far. Wish I was more knowledgeable so I could have figured out they were not right before I wasted all this time

Mrs. Les' lament reminds me of the time my modem wasn't working, and I called customer support, and they told me I needed to go on-line to download new drivers.

That person never did get it; I finally had to request a supervisor who arranged to send me the drivers I needed on an install CD.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Went to BB this AM. They switched out the Router with the dual purpose thingy and gave me a free network and set up scheduled for next week. She also told me that they had a lot of c/o about the guy who came to do the work yest. Much happier today.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

my closing had to be rescheduled because the payoff request was not handed to the person who does them until today, even though they had called on Monday. seriously. the entire thing depends on handing someone a piece of paper? no wonder your company sucks.

Punch them in the face.

Sat through the open enrollment for insurance today. It's so depressing. Realizing how much money I'm paying for insurance and thinking about all the options to pick from like death and dismemberment, cancer, disability. Ugh, not fun to think about.

Umm... I think you need to cut them some slack here. After the housing debacle a few years ago they NEED to make sure all their Ts are crossed. It's a long and laborious process, but it needs to be done right since fixing it can be an even bigger pain.

1. it's not out of the question for a big company to have an automated system for payoff requests or a cross check to make sure they all get processed, rather than the entire thing depending on handing someone a piece of paper. it's not like they started it and didn't have time.

2. they don't deserve any slack. :p

They might have an automated system. However, it might only be allowed to use within the company or it may need an actual signature (just guessing). When I went through Wells Fargo, the refi application was fast as hell.

Best Buy guy came- this guy knew what he was doing. Everything installed, he explained what he was doing and I understood it. I always love learning something new! Color me happy now!

Spoke too soon. Turns out that probably it is Verizon line that has a problem. I am on the phone with someone who is from a different continent and cannot say anything off script. SHe keeps trying to tell me that I need to check all my equipment. I have checked it all, I had a tech out here this AM. It was dropping off then. Just lost my mind and am now moving up the food chain to the Stupidvisor. Really- how many times can I repeat the same information? Apparently 5-10 times.

But your call will be monitored for quality assurance purposes. :p

>1.5 hrs. Refused to give me her name or connect me to a supervisor. After being put on hold about 4 times after I asked to speak to a supervisor I hung up. She called back 2 more times. I told her each time no supervisor, I am hanging up. Next 3 times Lil answered the phone and she tried the same thing and he hung up. Went the backdoor- called Verizon wireless and they got me to someone who could at least speak off script. The end point after multiple holds is they need to have someone come out and ck my line. DOH!! that was what I told them I needed to start with. Worst. tech. support. ever.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

On the upside, Verizon Wireless helped you out with no problems. :D ;)
