Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I get really angry when I see people driving, especially on the highway, when they haven't cleared the snow off the roof of their car first. Saw one numbskull motoring along the other day with a steady spray of snow trailing out behind him/her for hundreds of feet. They could cause an accident that way.

Meh. Don't follow so close and it's not a problem. I'm not going to waste my time cleaning off my roof out in the elements when the car can clean itself. I get the windows and headlights but that's about it.

People who use "save the date" in an e-mail subject.

Oh, you're getting married to a 401K presentation? Congratulations! Where are you registered, Office Depot?

So I sit down on the train last night and start to read the paper. After a few minutes, there are drops of coffee falling on it. I look up and some #%&^! has put a box on the rack above me, and coffee has soaked through it and is dripping steadily.

What kind of #*&%^! puts coffee in a box and sticks it on an overhead rack above someone else?

Teenagers who call their parents "Nazis" when they aren't allowed to do or have something. Overheard some girl give her parents that treatment when she was told she couldn't watch a certain movie at the theater.

That is when you walk up to the parents, say excuse me and then congratulate them for parenting.

Maybe. I would think that parents who have done a truly wonderful job would have raised their progeny to be too polite to call their parents "Nazis" over something as trivial as a movie. My parents restricted me from doing all kinds of stuff (all my friends agreed that my parents were "worse" than their own), but I would never, ever have called them such names even behind their backs, much less to their faces.

I have didn't bail money on me. :D If they thing not being allowed to do something is bad, try the trip to Auschwitz.

No matter how well raised every kid will say something stupid at some time. My kid is, according to everyone, exceedingly well behaved. He tried something similar but only a few times. The consequence (5$ for insolence when the allowance was less than that) was too severe to try again but they will all try once or twice.

Why doesn't anyone in the MN DOT know how to properly time a ****ing stoplight? Seriously, I see it daily. Huge lines of cars, 4 stoplights in a row on a fairly major road, and you have to stop at every stoplight. It is pathetic.

Anchorage cannot time a left turn signal to save itself. Every left turn lane I see is backed up all the way to the end. It can take 2-3 cycles of the light to get everyone through sometimes.

Even worse is when the lane fills up and starts sticking out into thru traffic and messing THAT up.

Yes but you grew up in a time when the "Nazi" term meant something. Nowadays it means very little. Every President is a Nazi, teachers are Nazis, Feminists are "Feminazis' and so on and so one. Basically it has been overused to the point that we are desensitized to it.

It's Alaska... how many cars can there possibly be? Or traffic lights for that matter.

Just start driving like you're from Illinois. Red lights just mean that three cars can still go through the interection/turn. Or park in the middle of the intersection, wait for the turn arrow or stop light to go red, then make your turn.

I'm still not used to it after growing up in Michigan. Tho I have done that a few times back home. But I'm allowed to because I have Illinois plates. ;)

I don't think of it as an Illinois Drivers License, It's a license to drive like an a**hole. :D

I believe the license also allows you to add 20 mph to the speed limit. :)

Handy sums up my feelings. I go on Facebook every day and see that people invoke that the Nazis made laws like this when Hitler took over. It doesn't carry the weight that it does. I was taught from an early age that it's not thing you want to say when you get told no. Les has a great point too about kids don't respond well to limits. My little one will get upset when I tell her no, but she gets over it.

I have said stupid stuff to and do laugh at stupid stuff. I was out for dinner with my wife and we heard Israeli-born "music star" Ke$ha on the radio. I overheard one guy make a joke about how they wish her grand-parents were taken to Birkenau so they wouldn't have to hear her screech. I chuckled, but my wife gave me a dirty look. Hope that doesn't make me an a-hole.

Parents who let their kids wear skinny jeans. You are just setting up your children for a lifetime of getting them stuffed into lockers or wedgied. :D

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Skinny jeans and skinny ties: the international signs of "don't take me seriously".

Ok, I figured it out. I'm getting unsubscribed from all threads I post in from my phone. Jeebus USCHO Mobile blows some serious ***.
