Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I so very much hate people who wear flip flops in the office on casual day. How would you feel if I wore giant honking clown shoes and walked past your desk 20 times a day?

Freakin' annoying!

People wear flip flops at work? In an office setting?

People who get in the 20 items or less lane with a cart litterally overflowing with groceries. I want to hammer punch them.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

That reminds me. "X" items or less signs grind my gears.

I dont mind them. If Im in the store just to buy a gallon of milk, it would be nice to not have to wait for 2 people in front of me with full carts to get through the check out. Alternatively, I would rather just see more checkouts open period (Wal-mart is the worst at this), and more self check outs.

Oh, the lanes don't bother me. Just the signs. :)

Netflix outages... Trying to relax and watch a movie before bed.

Losing the harddrive on my laptop, error 142 ginds my gears. Good thing I have a 16 yr old who says he can get the info off it:D

Marmots.

I had an animal decide that my garage was an interesting place to check out a few days ago. And paniced when it couldn't get out- chewing up my door seal, and doing a number on some wiring. Stupid animal.

I had a nice little cup full of coolant + water to finish it off. But a guilty conscience picked it up.

So I just listened for a while, and could hear it moving around. Slowly but surely, it left while I was watching. Back in it's normal home- my neighbor's garage....

Buying appliances...

So our Fridge decided to give up the ghost- freezer is now up to 29F all the time.

And we decided to replace the washing machine- which is better called something that moves water, but not much else- and our range- where 3 of the 4 lighters don't work anymore. The stuff is 16-18 years old, and works ok, but we could use an update.

So we go an look. And look, and look. Hard to find what we are looking for, but when you do, and read reviews, it's one horror story after another. One of the dishwashers we were considering consistently has raitings of 1 star, thanks to a TON of issues. All of the fridge ratings have problems.

I know generally, people don't post unless there are problems, but some of the problems are downright scary. Water, repairs, etc.

scares me.

And when you think the real high end stuff may be good- there's no real reference that you WILL get $3500 out of a 'fridge over a $1200 one. So how do you know. CR's ratings have Vikings below Frigidaire, but the reviews...

It's almost as if appliances have consistently gotten worse over the past 2 decades when cars and other expensive things have gotten better. What's going on?

I foresee stress.

Not knowing if our 19 year old FFL league (consisting of mainly the same players) will continue this year. Until last year, we had a waiting list to join.* Yep.

*For all years of existence, to get your own team:

1. Get really lucky and snag an open spot of a team that left.
2. Best bet: become a "minority" owner or 50/50 partner, then snag an open spot when a team left (most common way of getting your own team after about the 5th year of the league's existence, since minority owners had second shot after former owners)
3. Expansion. Highly unlikely. Did it once: expanded from 10 to 12 teams, because the waiting list was about 5-6 teams, and the league was due for a change.

I do, and several of my co-workers do! Being a software engineer definitely has benefits (I work at a research institution so the wet-lab people don't wear open toe shoes).

Stupid computers. Everything at my office is computerized. I finished my patients and had a meeting. Went to chart, do refills, look at correspondence, look at labs- all stuff collecting for the last 3 days. Server crashed. Can't do anything. Stayed crashed until I left (3 hours). The computer guy has no idea how to fix it.

Not working tomorrow. Today is my catch up day. Thu and Friday are slammed. I am never going to keep up. Effing computers. If I had paper charts all that would be handled. I need to find someone who hasn't gone over to satan and go work there!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Nancy Grace. She might be the most singularly irritating person on TV. At least people like Obberman, Stern, Beck are so out there they are like charactertures. This chick is an 'expert'. If she were to get permanent larygitis I would be happy.

The fact that not having a job doesn't seem to be grinding my gears grinds my gears.
