Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

Re: Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

If the Adrian - Geneseo meeting earlier this season is any indication of what is to come this one could get ugly. The Green Knights are so good at suffocating any momentum an opponent is able to create in their own end that if you're unable to score on the three or less mistakes (look at Adrian last weekend) the Green Knights may make in any game you're not going to have any chance to win. If Geneseo is able to capitalize on the few mistakes St. Norbert may make they will also have to be able to lock down their own end and somehow stop the deepest team in the country from scoring. After the Geneseo - Oswego game just a few weeks ago I don't think that Geneseo will be the team to accomplish this feat. I think the Green Knights will have success and once they start to score it never seems to stop. I don't think this game will be close (Sorry Geneseo fans) and I really hope this doesn't turn out to be the blow out that I believe it could turn into.

For the most part, I agree with you. I saw what SNC did to our boys twice this season, and if they play like that on Friday, well, it's gonna hurt for Geneseo. This is a different animal that they're dealing with here. I don't know about a blowout, but I could very easily see this being a 5-1 SNC win. That's not intended to be any slight to Geneseo whatsoever. It's just that SNC is playing that well.

I want Geneseo to know that this is not an SNC supporter putting up the bulletin board material!

Again, not an SNC supporter!!!!

Nope. Not at all. I have no dog in this fight (do what you want with that pun), and no ill will is intended here in any way. I saw us beat Geneseo at their place, and I saw SNC hand us our lunch twice. Now, I know, transitive property doesn't necessarily apply here, but man, I just don't see it in the cards for Geneseo. Sorry. That's just more of a testament to the quality of St. Norbert's team this year.

Horrigan > Haude

Re: Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

I am quite sure that it really does not matter what is stated on the boards and that all of the teams are way past the idea of bulletin board BS by any of the posters. The games will be played on the ice by 22 players on each team, not by individuals behind a computer keypad.

Re: Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

When Horrigan is on, he is every bit as good as Jacobson. However he isn't always on and Jacobson seems like he always is, so we will have to see how it pans out.

Re: Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

Looking at what little comparative data that exists, SNC appears to be the prohibitive favorite among the four remaining teams, no doubt about it.

(I would wonder aloud why Genny -instead of Oswego- drew them in the semis, but why even bother to ask..? This is D-3, after all.)

The NCAA does not reseed for the final 4. Oswego beat the East #1 seed Babson so if they advance to the championship game they would meet the #1 west team from the west SNC if SNC advances to the championship game.

Re: Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

Thank you.

It had gotten pretty confusing as to whom was the top seed in the East, since Trinity was the NCAA's top-ranked Eastern team before the conference tournaments, then fell completely off the map after one loss... That ridiculous situation could be amended just a little bit by re-seeding the teams after the fact.

I have no doubt whatsoever that SNC deserves the top seed in the FF, or that Point is the logical 2-seed, but if the the NCAA is hell-bent on avoiding West on West in the opening semis, then Genny certainly earned the opportunity to (maybe) get to the title game, as opposed to OSU.

Pretty sure they did earn the opportunity to maybe get the title game. That's why they play the games :)

Re: Geneseo vs SNC...Battle of the Knights

Geneseo is clearly an improved team over the 1st semester. While I agree SNC looks very tough, these 1 game winner take all's can be tricky. I'm not hanging my hat on what Adrian did to Geneseo early in the year. After the 1st period, Geneseo played even with the Bulldogs. Geneseo's goaltending was subpar at that point in the season. That said, Coach Schultz had better come up with a few wrinkles to throw off the Green Machine.
