Re: Gear Grinding 8: I Got A Lot Of Problems With You People!

windows 10 never shuts off my WiFi...must be user error :D

It doesn't shut off my wifi, either. Once in a while, I have to re-establish a connection (instead of auto-connect) at a place I've been before, but that's not a big deal.

I'm not alone.

So far I've changed the network adapter power settings, the power profile (WiFi and USB devices). It did it again to me this morning. Event Viewer showed an expired IPv6 lease just before the WiFi was shut off. I've turned off IPv6 now. And I've tried just about everything noted on the linked sites.

I'm pretty sure what the F in MSFT stands for.

Anything that begins with "gender reveal". Video, party, whatever.

The amount of marketing and commercialism that has warped the process of getting married, having a baby, going to prom, doing any milestone grinds my gears.

Re: Gear Grinding 8: I Got A Lot Of Problems With You People!

Recruiters whose introductory email tries to ingratiate themselves with you, by playing the angle that they "know your time is valuable", that you're getting dozens of junk employment solicitations every day so "thank you for taking a minute to read mine", and they want to be "100% transparent and honest with you", because "I can assure you that you don't want to miss out", and of course "this is not a scam...I have placed X people in the last month, and 2 more who are starting after Labor Day."

I will confess, this type of inquiry is far better than the copypasta form emails with horrible grammar and spelling that I get every day from the recruiting mills who employ people with Indian names to spam email lists.

That said, you still need to increase your Charisma score the next time you level-up bro, because I get your type of email at least once a week, and the standard AIDA tactics are a total snooze.

Re: Gear Grinding 8: I Got A Lot Of Problems With You People!

Buy a new car (finance) yesterday. I have been looking at it for a while and it is the car I want at roughly the price I want. Spend 4 hours test driving it and buying it yesterday. Spend a bit more than I wanted but it is worth it to me. Get the car home and the rearview mirror is kinda jacked. (seemed fine previously but I never needed to adjust it) Part of the housing falls off. Girlfriend and I fix it. Nothing I could do about it anyways the dealership was long closed.

Take the car out for a drive today cause it is a nice day and I want to enjoy the thought of having a nice car. As I am driving the housing breaks off again and then the whole mirror falls off the windshield. (it is hanging by some wires) No dealership is open today which means it has to be fixed tomorrow which could potentially ruin what I had planned for tomorrow.

Now I would assume it is an easy fix (same way you would do it if you just replaced the windshield) but I bought it at a dealership that doesnt deal with those cars (bought it at a Honda and it is a Chevy) so I am not even sure they know how to which means I would need to take it somewhere else which is an even bigger hassle. Meanwhile all the good vibes I had from getting the car are now dead because of all this and I just want to get my old POS car back and get my money back. I have zero trust now in the dealership or the car and I feel I just wasted a bunch of money. Literally the thing I have been the most excited about for weeks has now ruined my long weekend. The last thing I want to do is sit there for god knows how long tomorrow while they try and screw me over somehow.

Must be a bad weekend for newly purchased cars :) lil les bought a car last week. Just finished the rigamarole of registering, insuring, inspecting, etc. Gets home from a meet after a 4 h drive, turns on the car and it shuts itself off. All the warning lights are flashing and it won't go. We are 2 states away. Under warrantee but still out of the time and $ to inspect, register, etc. Even if they fix it not feeling the good vibes.

If the car wants to drive on the left side of the road, I'm blaming Brexit.

Finding invites for gender reveal parties at Target.

I want to do one of those, and have the reveal be "It's neither. She got Essure and I got a vasectomy. We're buying a Corvette and cruis'n USA. Get dunked on."

Generally there is a metal tab that glues to the windshield, the mirror slides over the tab and a set screw hold its there. Any glass guy could put it back up, you don't need to be Chevy guy to do it. In fact an auto parts store probably has the glue so you can do it yourself

Old "meme" but as a Breaking Bad fan, talking to GoT fans, "I get it! I'm sorry for what I did to you when BB was on the air!"

Never saw BB until last winter. Awesome show, don't watch that much TV other than sports. Haven't seen Game of Thrones either, someday I'll watch it

First of all it is more than 1%. Second of all why do GoT fans (or fans of any show) get so uppity just because someone hasnt watched their show? Me saying I dont watch it is no different than you (not you specifically) talking about it incessantly and telling me I have to watch it.

Now personally I have never felt the need to watch the show but I also dont brag about it. I dont refuse to watch it cause it is cool to be different, the show doesnt interest me.

(Breaking Bad and The Wire fans are the worst about harassing people who didnt watch their show...the Family Guy bit about it was awesome :D )
