The birth control thing...we were smarter (sort of) than that. The ONE time we didn't.....whoops. We knew the risks, but hormones got in the way. :o We def used the birth control outside of that particular night. No Catholicism methods were in play.

Only need one little fishy. I had a patient who literally got pregnant without losing her virginity. :eek: ANd yes, I can attest she was intact still. Fishies have powerful motivation to get where they are going

Kale. I swear, all the supposed health benefits of it are a lie to get you to eat it. And I've heard if you stir coconut oil into your kale, it's easier to scrape into the trash.

And Starbucks. Had one sip of their Pike Place roast and tasted burning. Next time I go out for coffee, I'll go local.

Pikes is one of my favorite from Starbucks. Normally I don't like Starbucks roasts but their blonde and pikes are good.

Runner's World magazine. Their nutrition articles, once upon a time, were written by registered dietitians and the occasional guest piece by Mark Bittman.

Now, their nutrition articles are "I quit X for (determined amount of time) and Y happened." Only to find out that nothing happened.

The blonde is OK, but their regular beans are pretty average quality, so you don't get the nuances you get with a good light or medium-light roast made with higher quality beans.

Pikes, IMO, is a medium-dark roast. "Charbucks" is definitely a thing.

The beans should not be as shiny as Starbucks roasts them. That's the oil escaping that makes coffee awesome.

Kids won't take the stuff because the kids don't have anywhere to put it either since town homes and condos have become more prevalent.

And heirlooms don't quite have the same sentimental value as in past generations. I have one heirloom currently (a hutch from my great-grandparents), and one due to me (authentic ivory Mah Jong set; because tradition dictates first born) when my parents pass. Neither of those will ever leave the family under my watch.

When people tell me "it's finally Friday"... and I have to work Saturday. The only benefit to Saturday work is time and a half, and for that, I make 20.95/hour.

It certainly is. Every Starbucks I've been to burns the taste right out of their coffee (or burns it into their coffee I suppose). Every Dunkin Donuts I've been to does the same. Each franchisee apparently think if they make coffee super hot, it can sit for a while.

I'm spoiled by Tim Hortons (Michigan) (when we go on trips) in that they brew small batches as often as they do. "Twenty minutes fresh."

Heirlooms mean different things to different people.

While I feel bad, I do not want the home that my dad grew up in, that I'm part owner of. It was a nice place to visit as a kid, but it's not that meaningful. We haven't visited it for well over 10 years.

And other stuff that my parents collected, even as gifts for my siblings and me, they really don't mean anything to me, as I have different interests.

There are really only a handful of items that are historically significant that I'd want to keep track of. The rest is just stuff. Stuff that someone else will likely enjoy.

I know it is lame, but if there is something political I want posted I send it to my girlfriend. She is very political and doesnt care the reaction she gets and I dont want to start flame wars on Facebook because I posted an article. Too many friends with conflicting views and it just isnt worth the effort.

If you go to Seattle you can have much better "Pike's" style brewing from pretty much any coffee shop around. I will say Starbucks there is less burned than everywhere else though.

Plus, the people watching is amazing!

Well my thing is this...when I was at the U of M we had plenty of people shouting at us...not during protests or gatherings just walking to and from class. (ah Brother Jed and his Clan of Misfits) There were racists on campus, there was difference of opinion all over the place and no one really cared. Sure there was the small amount of "Hey look at me I got a cause!!!" people (lots of Suburban White People Wearing Free Mumia Shirts) but for the most part everyone ignored them. Now those people, the ones who make the protestors in PCU look reasonable have taken over the campuses. Those Liberals are the ones I call snowflakes. They are the ones pushing for the police to not use color in descriptions of victims or suspects because it has a bias behind it. They are the ones that dont allow comedians to come to campus because the jokes may hurt der widdle feelings. In the name of their feelings, they censor and attack anyone who might think otherwise.
