Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Preferred Dodge dealership grinds my gears. Found a car that was modestly priced at their dealership, and we were told that they would pick us up so we could look at it and possibly drive it home today. Instead, my dad and I waited three hours for a ride that never materialized. When we called to find out the status of our ride, all we got were excuses as to why they hadn't shown up. I could have spent that three hours doing something else.

I know my dad and I need a car, but we will seek out another dealership, one that won't offer excuses.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

What is going on with on-line order deliveries this year??

I ordered half a dozen items two weeks ago, and so far only one has arrived. Several others have "shipped" (or so I am told) but where are they along the way? no tracking information of any use.

From conversations with friends and relatives, this problem seems fairly widespread.

I hope I am not handing out envelopes with pictures and shipping notices on Friday morning.

Play Pictonary with the gifts. Put the name of the item in an envelope with the recipient's name on it, hand them out to anyone other than that person, and take turns drawing the items. Still sucks, but at least some laughs may be had.

And I've had similar shipping and tracking issues. Hard to plan on things if the information is incomplete or unavailable.

I ordered 2 things from Amazon last Friday, got them last night. No problems, and I don't recall ever having a problem. *shrug*

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Our UPS driver at the office told us yesterday that Amazon moved a lot (if not all) of their deliveries from UPS to the post office. Grain of salt where necessary.

That would explain part of the reason they are not running on Christmas Eve.

I don't really care either way, but was wondering why...

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

A gift I ordered on Amazon Prime is a week late...first time it has ever gone like this but I am ****ed I wont lie. (its a christmas gift for my girlfriend that was supposed to be delivered 4 days before we left for Mexico) The post office even called me directly to tell me to go after Amazon about it because the mistake is on their end.

I am pretty even keel about this stuff but I pay for a Prime membership for a reason. The item was shipping from Indiana I could have rode a bike and made it in time.

Very odd. I ordered something on last Fri (late night) had 2 day shipping, got it Tue.

This whole time of year grinds my gears. Unending avarice, along with people who think one day of spending time will atone for choosing against any of the other days of the year.

Any Pkg that comes USPS is suspect as far as deadlines are concerned. Amazon may have screwed the pooch on it but my first thought would be USPS and not Amazon no matter what USPS says. if it was Amazon, whine about it and they will extend your Prime membership for a month. Doesn't make up for it but....

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I never have an issue with the post office, it wasnt them. I got my refund on it and Amazon admitted they screwed up somehow.

"Friends" who tell me that "if you just sign up for this MLM/Pyramid scheme, all your financial troubles will be over!"

Used to have a bunch of people on FB peddling that Vemma/Verve energy drink. Despite looking like an obvious pyramid scheme, they all bought into the company sales pitch about being out of debt and being your own boss and yadda yadda yadda. One of the most annoying ones was tied up in it until they got shut down for being a scam. Last I checked he went from a job at McDonalds to one at the airport, so he's probably making some more money? Definitely not his own boss, though.

Didn't have that one, but I have Beachbody (they made Insanity and P90X) reps telling me that I'm also unhealthy if I don't use their product. It's right up there with "wellness" people telling me I need to give myself coffee enemas to be well. Coffee is for drinking, not shoving up your pooper.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

How is the health of their Nigerian uncle?
Funny story. My employer recently negotiated a deal with the Nigerian government to build and maintain power plants in their country, and then sell that power to the government for their use. The deal was pretty lucrative, and supposedly has been quite the financial windfall for my company.

Overheard repeatedly by lower level management about the deal: "I'll be da**ed, someone responded to the Prince and those e-mails DO come true!"

when there aren't any baskets by the doors at the grocery store, and you have to hunt for them by the registers.

If it was a slow day, there's no excuse for that.

Bringing carts in IS my job at Sam's Club, and if there are no carts at the door, I have the door greeter and the member service supervisors breathing down my neck.

But that gives an answer to one of my previous gear grinders:

One of the greeters told me that she knows we're doing our best to bring carts in when we're busy. She just makes the call so members will shut up.
