Future Frozen Four Sites

Does anyone know when the next round (2027-2031) will be announced, and who applied? I believe the decisions will be made this year.

Where would you like to see future FFs go?

Not knowing which cities bid, here are the cities I'd like to see host (not necessarily in the upcoming period to be announced):

Regulars:
St. Paul
Boston
Tampa

Other Destinations:
Chicago (how was it for those who went?)
Seattle
Denver
Nashville
Washington, D.C.
New York City (MSG; Barclay's might be too small)
Philadelphia
Detroit
Dallas?

Would any Canadian cities be under consideration? I think Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa could all be good trips for fans, and travel wouldn't be too bad from most college hockey hotbeds. I think Vancouver would be just a little too far, even if it's a great city.

They will not put a ff in Canada. There are no Canadian colleges in ncaa hockey.

I’d much rather have one in Pittsburgh rather than Philadelphia.

Other than that your list is good.

Washington DC is great because of all the other things you can do in the down time.

No particular order:

Raleigh
Sunrise
Nashville
Dallas
Los Angeles
San Jose
Seattle

Both Pittsburgh and Philly can f off. Buffalo too.

Boston
St. Paul
Tampa
Vegas
Nashville

Throw in an occasional trip to Detroit and Denver since they have deep college hockey roots.

Of course I would also say NYC but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

Maybe Chicago and/or DC but that's it. That's my list.

This may seem strange, but I think a regional in NYC might be in the cards before a Frozen 4. Timing may be better, and the demand may be good if it included local teams that could be placed there. BU and Cornell alumni are all over the city area and any other northeast team could draw there as well. I don't mind Buffalo, it's a day's drive for anyone in New England and the Detroit and Chicago areas. Much closer for Canadians in Ontario too. The Falls are nearby and wings everywhere. Sorry, those of you from Michigan but Detroit has little to offer. A fun place might be Salt Lake City with Olympic venues and ski areas still open at the time. They will be upgrading for another Olympics that is almost a lock.

I agree with Scarlet regarding Detroit in 2020; I also expect Milwaukee to get one next time around with the new arena.

I’m basically good with JD’s lists of yes/no otherwise.

100% no on Buffalo. Never again. The last one was pre-COVID and had two eastern schools in it. Attendance sucked.

Did anyone like Albany and Columbus ? My favorite is Tampa

How about Long Island where the Islanders play ?

I'd love to see it in San Diego.....it would have to be around 2030 or later though since they aren't supposed to break ground on their new 16K arena until 2026.

Anaheim was fun....but I'm a Maine fan. :)

I plan on being in Vegas....that should be a blast.

Keep it away from the Rust Belt excluding Detroit.

Orlando or Tampa is fine.

Atlanta?

Boston will always be tops IMO.

Albany is too small now anyway, right? Columbus was terrible IMO.

Albany just upgraded the arena within the last 5 years to add more seats, enclose the outdoor entrance area and add digital ad boards. This was done to try to get another FF/Regional, etc. the women’s basketball regional final will be held there this weekend, so I suppose we’ll soon find out how the NCAA feels about it.

I liked Albany but the arena only holds 15,000. It's a nice arena but maybe too small to be a FF host again. NHL sized arenas are the norm now. I wouldn't mind seeing the regionals there again. DC was great, Tampa was great, Boston is always great, plenty to do in Chicago and Philly. On the other hand Detroit missed out in 2020 and so did Pittsburgh in 2021. There are others who haven't hosted lately, like Milwaukee and Denver. Do they want new locations like Nashville, Dallas or Seattle? Anyone's guess. Mine are Denver, Detroit and DC. If a new venue is a must, make it Nashville.

I have been going to the FF since 1999 in CA. I meet up with 3 friends from different parts of the country, all of us from crappy weather states. A few years back, cannot remember which one exactly, we were at the semis and were locked into the areana for 7 hours, no beer, shitty food etc...........we decided then to travel to a warm weather city and watch the games on TV. Austin, San Diego and Tempe this year. Funny thing the first year we did this we're watching a game and we see a fan with a beer!!! Stop and go back to make sure we saw that right..........it was pretty funny the first year we decide not to go they start selling beer inside. It wasn't enough to make us want to go back though. We like our new system. Getting ready for a college hockey orgy this week. Finally, with ESPN+ I can stream all the games out here in the PNW.
Praise da lordy guy!
