So I just spoke to the arena and here is what they told me.

1. The PNC club DOES have beer and wine.

2. You will be allowed to leave the arena, but not the "plaza" which is the open area outside the main entrance.

rtshark, thanks for the info. The leaving the arena thing is a bit of an in joke. Until several years ago, there was a gap between the first Thusday game and the second Thursday game; in fact they had separate tickets. There was plenty of time to vacate the arena, and there was plenty of time to have a nice meal between games, in fact you didn't even need to a place near the arena. Then they went to a single admission to the Thursday games, with a much shorter gap in between. You had your choice of eating in the arena, being really lucky to find a conventional restaurant near the arena and praying that you got good service, or fast fooding it. Additionally, they made it difficult for the folks who wanted to re-enter, like allowing re-entry at one door only. This has nothing to do with the Times Forum, and everything to do with the NCAA (and probably ESPN, because they call the shots on the starting times).

To me it is utterly ridiculous to not allow people to leave the arena. I am sure some of it is so people do not go get tanked in between the games. Same reason they have all these strict alcohol regulations at NCAAgames. I think the rules are total garbage and I do not even drink anymore.

Also, sucks for the restaurants in the area too and there are several within walking distance of the forum.

Originally I was told that clearing the arena would be mandatory, but then the NCAA stepped in and clarified that no one can leave and come back. This isn't the choice of the Times Forum. They wanted games separated by several hours (like it used to be) with people free to go to local restaurants etc between games. I was planning on reserving some space at the Firestick Grill between games, but with the short turnaround I'm just going to stay in the suite. By the time we're done eating, it will be the second period of the second game.

$375 gets you both days plus the food we've ordered (chicken wings, tender, salad, sliders etc). Alcohol is extra and has to be ordered by Monday. Email me (ticapnews(at)gmail) if interested.
