Friday, November 28 - Nebraska Omaha @ North Dakota

Re: Friday, November 28 - Nebraska Omaha @ North Dakota

So we had a whistle with 0:00.3 left. Will have one last puck drop, and then the shootout...

North Dakota dominated that OT, especially on faceoffs. But Omaha was very strong in front of net, and really limited the quality chances.

So far on the season, UNO has lost more faceoffs than it has won for the season. Montpetit's graduation hurt in that regard.

Zombo scores for Omaha

1-0 UNO wins the SO

Omaha gets 2 points, North Dakota gets 1.

Tomorrow becomes a big game for North Dakota.

And, for UNO as well.

We seem to always play pretty well in your building.

Omaha is a very talented team. I thought North Dakota really controlled play until we scored. That seemed to spark Omaha who really dominated the rest of the 2nd period. I thought the third was pretty even, and then North Dakota dominated OT. That being said, Omaha really limited North Dakota's scoring chances in front. Massa made some quality saves, and was positionally excellent. To be fair, North Dakota also limited Omaha's quality chances, and McIntyre came up with some solid saves as well. In looking at the goals scored by both teams, I don't think either goalie had a chance to stop any of the ones that went in. It didn't help that Omaha's second goal went in off a North Dakota player...the third time in the last three games that has happened.

As for tomorrow, it is definitely more important for North Dakota than Omaha given that the game is at home, and the Mavs already have 2 points out of the weekend (pretty good for a road trip...especially at the Ralph). It would be devastating for the Sioux to only take 1 point out of 6 at home.

But...we'll see. Should be another good game tomorrow.
