Ruehl was the commissioner as the CCHA began to blossom. He took over just after Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan Tech and Michigan State joined the league after leaving the WCHA. It was a simpler time. Ruehl split his time between running the league and running the Bowling Green Ice Arena; league business one hour, driving the Zamboni the next!!!
