Florida College Classic: UMD vs Maine/Ferris State vs Cornell (12/28-29) BEACH HOCKEY

Re: Florida College Classic: UMD vs Maine/Ferris State vs Cornell (12/28-29) BEACH HO

Anyone who's been there before are there tix available @ the gate?..sorry

I've been 2 out of the last 3 years where I've bought tickets in advance. Going again this year and will be buying tickets at the gate. Does that answer your question?;)

Re: Florida College Classic: UMD vs Maine/Ferris State vs Cornell (12/28-29) BEACH HO

Maine has a Jr. goal tender in Martin Ouellette who has developed into a solid tender (not outstanding). He has been keeping Maine in games, but gets no help from his offense. I'm not conceding the Championship to UMD without first playing the games.;)

Re: Florida College Classic: UMD vs Maine/Ferris State vs Cornell (12/28-29) BEACH HO

I saw on Twitter that Maine Sophomore, John Parker, has been booted off the team. I saw some grumblings on Twitter that there might be players leaving. I'm taking that with a grain of salt right (but it sure is interesting).

What is with Joey Diamond? He only has 6 points this year? He must be missing Spencer Abbott...

If I could make it to this thing...I would be stunned if this thing sold out. Southwest Florida is not quite a hockey hotbed.

You are correct about Diamond. He relied on Abbott and Flynn to get him the puck in front of the net. Matt Mangene leaving early was another contributor to Diamond's success.

No, but the Ever lades who play in Germain DO draw a solid crowd. Helps that they have had a pretty successful team the past decade or so, but they still can put butts in the seats. How many locals will show up, I'm not sure.

I know some of those local rabid fans. All they talk about is the Everblades, but wouldn't join me in Tampa for the Frozen Four.
They are transplanted Cape Cod, Massachusetts folk.
They said... "hey, we have a kid on our team from Falmouth (MA) playing goalie."
Me: "yea, I know. I've watched him play the last 4 years. He won 2 national titles."
They were like deer in the headlights... no clue what I was talking about. :D

We also having that going on with Caleb Herbert. He is really missing his old linemate, JT Brown.

I find that surprising (that they would draw well) but not surprising that the people going to those games are transplants.

That ain't happening in the middle of a season

What's the NHL?

and Luke used to bull's eye wamp rats back home in his t-16 and they weren't much bigger than 2 meters, but I don't see how either relates to this coming tournament

It was the last, and only, time UMaine played Ferris State.

they won't go to the NHL, but they might go play juniors.

unfortunately, there is not a single player on this Maine team who could crack an AHL roster, never mind an NHL roster.

It won't happen in the middle of the season to play JRs either. After the season, I could see it but not during

who was the kid who left midseason last year?

and that was during a fairly successful season

Re: Florida College Classic: UMD vs Maine/Ferris State vs Cornell (12/28-29) BEACH HO

For the NHL midseason this year took place last year.

Re: Florida College Classic: UMD vs Maine/Ferris State vs Cornell (12/28-29) BEACH HO

Maine is @ 2-11-2,pretty much sums it up,they are not good at all,no scoring...Ouellette has been a bright spot in net of late, not many wins to show for it,but he has given the team a chance, but with NO scoring...well its has been and will be a LONG Season...no if's or but's about it...no surprise here if they leave the Sunshine State with two more L's on the docket...the worst part is the 2nd half could very well be MORE ugly then the 1st half...not something I'm looking forward to,but thats the plain truth about the Maine Program.

Good chance at that as you say,one and done at Maine for Shore...depends what Dallas thinks of the situation at Maine and what would be in the best interest of a 2nd round pick...NHL Teams don't tend to like to waste picks or even have them hampered in their development stages...the only way I see him staying is if there would be a change in the Head Coaching staff after the season ends, but that is also a longshot...it will all depend on the A.D. at present(Abbott). Times have hit rock bottom/track wreck style for Maine Hockey.

He wasn't playing, Shore is playing in every situation.

I believe you are correct. He wasn't playing and he left on his own accord or was asked to leave by the coaching staff so that he could play more hockey at a different level. He left with the hope of returning if I recall correctly but, obviously that hasn't happened.
