Obviously the 1991 CCT-SLU final is important (and I have it somewhere here on VHS), but McEachern's OTGWG was a thing of beauty.

Yes, I've always thought the passes before the goal and the goal were all wonderful. I've added two more games with CCT (1990 ECAC semifinal and 1991 NCAA semifinal), but unfortunately, the outcomes are not as pleasant for you.

Sean, do you have the 1991 NCAA QF games vs. Michigan?

I don't recall those games being televised in Boston, but if they were I should have them. So far I haven't come accross them, but I did find and uploaded the 1991 NCAA semifinal game vs Clarkson.

I just watched this game in its entirety. A few observations, from a BU perspective:

1. I'd forgotten how sharp John Bradley was. He kept BU in the game as...

2. Maine dominated the 2nd period and the first half of the 3rd period.

3. On Peter Ahola's goal that gave BU a 3-2 lead, there was nice work along the boards by McEachern and Tkachuk to free up the puck.

4. On the OT GWG, at center ice, Phil von Stefenelli loses the puck and quickly regains control before he passes to Amonte who, in turn, passes to McEachern. If he hadn't regained possession of the puck, Maine could've had a clean break into the BU d-zone.

5. Maine supporters have claimed that McEachern hand passed the puck from behind the net to Amonte on BU's PP goal that tied the game at 2-2. I watched the replay several times and can't see conclusively that it was a hand pass, but it seemed that the puck got out to Amonte in the circle pretty quickly considering that McEachern was in tight quarters between Maine defenders. Interestingly, neither Bob Kurtz nor Bob Norton made any mention of a hand pass, and the camera didn't focus on Shawn Walsh. As the teams lined up for the center ice faceoff following the goal, you can see Walsh leaning over the boards to protest.

6. JP pretty much rolled two lines from the midpoint of the 3rd period on. This meant limited ice time for future two time All American David Sacco, who pretty much skated PP, only.

7. Bob Norton was a terrific analyst. No nonsense, nuts and bolts commentary.

I switched back from converting older games to more recent one that are in HD. Some of the older tapes are having stability issues, but I am hoping to convert some older ones again today and tomorrow using a different VCR. Also, I'm likely being accused of eastern bias in the games I've uploaded, so I've added a few regular season games against western teams. Here are the newest games available:

I found that game among my tapes, even though I usually taped over BU losses. That, along with the 1995 championship game is one of the tapes I had tracking trouble with. It seems to be tracking much better in the VCR I just hooked up, so if all goes well it will be available later today or tomorrow.

Do you have the 1991 championship game? I was at that game in St. Paul, and I still consider it maybe the greatest college hockey game I ever saw in person. To this day I wish that I had set my VCR for that game.

I'm glad you enjoyed the games. I watched them live back when they were played as I didn't travel out to East Lansing (instead I traveled out to Detroit for the Frozen Four ).

I have it. Should dig it out. Have the 1999 ECAC championship game too. Don't ask why. Ending of that game on par with Matt O'Connor blunder (sorry BU people). Then Princeton made another blunder in the 2009 NCAAs. (edit: sorry - was referring to ECAC semifinal Princeton-Clarkson)

So, it appears that either the expensive, high-end NEC SVHS machine I used to tape games around 1994-1998 or the tapes I used, or both were not very good. It is also possible that I reused the tapes too many times, but as BU won more often back then is likely not the case for most of the games. I have started to playback several games from 1995 and 1997 and all are showing signs of poor tracking and some are showing picture loss. However, as they are what I have I'll convert them, but don't expect great quality. I'm also adding more games from around 2010-2013. Here is the updated list of all games on my Google Drive:

I agree. the game had everything.Momentum swings Goals galore, then Scoreless until the end in the 3rd overtime. Just a great game.

There were only 12 teams and two (super)regionals in the tournament in 1998, so the game was not a regional final, just a quarterfinal game.

While I don't have much interest in BU games, I have to give you credit for getting all of this done. Hopefully others will see your work and try to do the same.

Thanks. I'm converting the non-BU games I have (which is slowing down my converting BU games) because I know most here have limited interest in BU games. However, most of the non-BU games I have are Beanpot and Hockey East semifinal games, so I'm still limited to eastern, Hockey East and Boston bias .

It was one of the west Regional finals. The other was Michigan and North Dakota.
