Finding old games to watch

gwhinwi

Weblink = Wisconsin recruiting info
Since we have no conference or NCAA tournament games to watch, I've had a hankering to watch some old WCHA or NCAA games.

There are a few old championship games on Youtube at this point, but does anyone else have an outlet that they use for tracking down or watching old games?

The one I've always wanted to watch again is the 1983 WCHA Semifinal between Wisconsin and UND that went to 3 OT's. It's the first hockey game I remember watching live on TV and haven't ever seen it since. How about the rest of you?

This is a good idea. There is a condensed version of the Maine/Lake Superior State '93 championship game on YouTube that is very entertaining. I still can't believe LSSU wasn't able to score on that late scramble in front. https://youtu.be/mf7Ux5V_P0Y?t=1373

I hadn't even thought of that. I still have hundreds of BU games on videotape I could watch and convert to digital.

I have quite a few Maine games on tape but I don't have a vcr anymore :)

Re: Finding old games to watch

I have the 1989 Maine-PC NCAA QF game 3 somewhere. I also have the first Hockey East final in 1985 where Chris Terreri was ridiculous in goal.

Same here. I have alot of the Maine classics on tape but no machine to play. Used to always rewatch the game on tape every night after being there in person. Drove my wife nuts........ LOL

I used to do that with the Mrs when the local public TV station would run the games at 10:30 after the game was over.

We would go to the game, then come home and watch it again. I miss those days.

Re: Finding old games to watch

The "pause", and "rewind" function were so revolutionary, LOL. But, they gave me the chance to yell again at Fitzgerald or Mcbride for blowing calls. (Hockey East fans will remember those names)

Wes/Wally: I would happily digitize all your old Maine VHS tapes to DVD or YouTube. There are a lot of older games I'd love to get my hands on that I'm sure some of you older gents have.

EDIT: Might as well contribute a couple games to this as well
1999 Frozen Four Semifinal - Maine vs. Boston College
1999 National Championship - Maine vs. New Hampshire

I'm watching the 1978 National Championship game right now.

Thank you. Very interesting. Interesting to see how little hitting there is in these games -- for all the talk about "finishing the checks" being old fashioned hockey, it really is an invention of the late 80s. And its not just guys pulling up on checks, its the idea that hitting is the best way to slow a team so once your guy makes a pass you finish becaus it ties them up for 3 seconds.
