Fighting Sioux 2011-12 Season

Re: Fighting Sioux 2011-12 Season

The season has begun! High expectations with an influx of talent. Should be an exciting year. Go Sioux!
...and a big weekend ahead for UND. I'm expecting a very competitive series...on a busy NC weekend for WCHA teams. BU on the road a real test early for the much improved Sioux.

Re: Fighting Sioux 2011-12 Season

Thank you for sharing the above links. The video is indeed powerful and I hope its message will be heard. Best of luck to the Fighting Sioux...

Agree...with the above sentiments. You can take the Sioux out of the fight but you can't take the fight out of the Sioux...looks like this dust up ain't done bein' done!

But with all the hubbub in the last year I've lost my program. Can anyone provide a Cole's Notes version of the situation? Wasn't one of the Sioux bands the instigator of this game of catch the politically correct football? If so, then other Sioux bands are opposed to any name change. Is that correct? And if so, then it's a Sioux squabble.

By far the Comment of the Day...

The next thing you know, rodents across the midwest will be lining up to sue the university of Minnesota...

Beauty!

I guess Bemidji would have to be included in any lawsuit filed by Midwest rodents.

What about the weasel family members of the Midwest?

Well, the way I see it there is only one rodent here...

It's also a well known fact that the Beaver is a truely proud and noble animal...

Re: Fighting Sioux 2011-12 Season

... proud and noble ...
That line didn't seem to help UND very much with the NCAA. :( Would probably have more clout with them if it was something like, "The Beaver is all about generating revenue."

Knew that. You see it wrong. Shocking. Good to know Beavers consider themselves noble and are duly proud. Never mind their habits are often as destructive as they are beneficial. Another well known fact.

Now if the BSU nickname was The Habitat and Land Destroyin' Valuable Tree Cutting Buck Teeth Varmint Beavers...well then, the NCAA would have to step in and PC things up.

It's a well known fact Gophers are completely comfortable with their "Golden" characterization...they told me so.

That might all be true...but come back when you have a beer commercial that supports your theory... Then we'll talk.

Hey, Beavers are builders. Up in remote Northern Alberta is a beaver Dam that is over half a mile long. It was discovered a few years ago from a satelite image, as the area is pretty much unreachable by land.
