Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

Re: Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

First period in the books, RPI 1 FSU 0
Not nearly as good a period as last night, but the team is hanging in there.

Re: Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

We may be up 1-0 but I am not thrilled with that period. We seemed a step slower and we made some poor defensive turnovers. Paasing was not that crisp and we were very lucky a few times that FSU mishandled open situations. The only positives are the score of course, our decision making is for the most part pretty good. Love the fact that JL jas 2 early goals this year and obviously love the power play scoring. But FSU came out with lots of speed and movement and had us on our heels for a good part of the period. We did have one incredbile chance earlier that was not converted (?Higgs) and a few other opportunities. But my feeling was that we are indeed fortunate that the score is what it is so far. We will need to be sharper for the next 40 minutes and of course as always avoid penalties.

They needed more carpet for the parents.:)
I always felt bad for the players that didn't dress for the game. And their parents too--not getting to see their son play.

I feel quite bad myself-since most of the parents look young enough to me my children.:( But I must say this year is starting off a tad differently. Last year at FSU we played 6 periods-and we were outscored 6-0. This year so far we have played 4 periods and are outscoring them 4-1. Still a very long 40 minutes to play but encouraging none the less. Go Red!!!

Re: Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

Bad defensive RPI play and we are tied 1-1 early in the second

Re: Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

RPI penalty number 2-hold the fort and coach SA has some work to do-we seem to be a bit hung over and slow today

Re: Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

End of the second period and we are all tied up 1-1. it appears that the FSU team and coaches have done their homework and made adjustments. They have figured out our breakout plays invovle using the boards and caroming the puck off-and have broken down the lanes to do that. We also seem to be having far more trouble with their aggressive forecheck. They are send 2 and even 3 in deeply and they have force multiple turnovers. This has become much more physical and the third period may well decide this one with penalties.

Re: Ferris State vs RPI - Saturday, October 13th

Forgot as EHF says-matching minors-penalty numbers 4 for FSU and 3 for RPI. Probably means some 4 on 4 time. i do not have the shot count-but would be surprised if it is very close. FSU has had far the better of the possessions.
