Re: Ferris State Recruiting Class
Minimal. Too early to say. I don't think we could have asked for better recruits. All seem to be standouts in their respective leagues and bring a diversified area of skills. One common thread seems to be they can score big goals. I like disciplined players, but PIM in juniors doesn't mean a lot as it depends on the role of the player with their team. I like the fact Alexander had 25 goals in the USHL. Bonis lead his team in goals and was a Captain. Ouellette 2nd on his and Kirzinger finished his season up strong with scoring and landed the MVP award. The fact is we need more scoring and the recruits fit that mold.
Kyle Bonis, NAHL, Traverse City, '89, 5'11, 176#. Lead his team in goals and points. 57-30-27; 42 PIM, 216 shots, Captain of TC. (Canadian); goal scorer.
Travis Ouellette, BCHL Penticton, 5'8", 165, '89 from Windsor, 60-25-28-53; 47 pim; 4th in team points and 2nd goals. Good speed and goal scorer.
Eric Alexander, USHL -Chicago/Lincoln, '89 6'2", 200lbs., 60-25-24-49; 135 PIM, 2nd in pts/goals. from Michigan. USHL All-Star. goal scorer/physical.
Matt Kirzinger-SJHL, '88, 5'10" 180lbs, Rt. C, 39-29-23-52; 57 PIM, 3rd or 4th on team for pts/goals. From Leroy, Saskatchewan. Did well in play-offs - MVP. fast.
It will all come down to the transition of moving from juniors to college. October 4th should tell us more.
