Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

See my edited post above. Thanks.
Playoffs run from Monday to Monday but the championship is 2 weeks so you get 4 moves total between today and when the season is done...2 can be poaches. As you noticed with bigblue and I, one great strategy if you already have a decent team heading into the semifinals is to wait on a poach or free agent until a player you're interested in has already advanced to the frozen four...

OK... so you're saying bigblue (who has a decent team already) will wait until Friday, 4/8, after the semi's. Then pick his players from the 2 teams that have advanced to the final? Good strategy.

Can picks be stockpiled, ie, if I had a decent team last week and didn't use my roster moves, could they have carried over from last week, leaving me with 8 picks this week? (too late now, but thinking ahead to next season).
LOL... my roster was loaded with players from BC, Yale, Merrimack, AFA and UNO. Some good ones too until they lost.

bigblue is toast... gonna be a UND/UMD final. Knight, Genoway and J. Connolly all score hatties... FiveHole wins! :p

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

I don't save poaches for later in the week, I get those done right away, in case I can't get someone to release the players later. But I will wait to see which teams move past the first round, to see who I should pick up for the second games of the weekend, for my other 2 moves.

I have to figure out my strategy for this week. I already have more forwards than I can start, so do I poach another forward from the school I have the least players from, as insurance for the championship game, or do I poach defensemen, to play a full lineup on Thursday...decisions. Or, do I have enough faith in the Sioux to poach Dell? Doubtful, goalies are evil at this point.

No stockpiling...and saving moves now isn't necessarily worth it...Its more the first 2 rounds of using the wait and see approach if you're confident in your roster.

As for what Bigblue said, I'm poaching Dell even though its dangerous because I don't think I have much choice because pgrass01 has too much left.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Thanks guys. Very helpful.

Here's my last 4 moves, which leaves me without a Michigan player. Go Sioux. ;)

Poach: Knight, Corban (F/North Dakota)
Poach: Connolly, Jack (F/Minnesota-Duluth)
Add: Guentzel, Ryan (F/Notre Dame)
Add: Maday, Billy (F/Notre Dame)

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

I would lose to FederalLeague, who is inactive and had about 4 people playing this weekend. I would. fml. Granted, I wasn't real good about keeping my roster active sat and sun, but still. Ah well, I'll be back at it next season.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Zudnic... I requested SeansTeam at USCHO 3 to release Knight, Corban (F/North Dakota) and Connolly, Jack (F/Minnesota-Duluth).
Haven't heard anything (not sure I even contacted the right person). Can you take care of that please? Thanks.

Join the club. He beat me in the opening round of the playoffs. Imagine if he was active and poached two of my players.

I'll have to try and remember some of the issues we ran into this year so that I'm more prepared to head up a division next season. I gotta try and pad my resume before I apply for Tom Anastos' former job. :D

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

It's a blowout in USCHO-2. I'm up by 74 over 2nd, and 160 over 3rd.

HP1015 790
WhiteBearWarriors 716
allnightwong 630
Keep up that attitude and you'll get knocked out in the first round...WBWs stopped caring about the RS title a few months ago...just biding his time for playoffs ;)

What happen to that arrogant regular season champ? ;)

Pfffffft, I knew the regular season didn't mean much, but I was more curious to see how the other 2 leagues matched up, both points wise and spread.

My biggest issue was my goaltending and a couple of my high-points players were on teams that didn't make the tourneys. Ah well, lessons learned for next year, I'll take this performance for my rookie campaign.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

My roster moves are complete in USCHO 3.
Ready for battle against Bigbluedl with 4 forwards and 3 defensemen.
I've got some guns but not confident it's enough.

F Knight, Corban (F/North Dakota)
F Guentzel, Ryan (F/Notre Dame)
F Maday, Billy (F/Notre Dame)
F Connolly, Jack (F/Minnesota-Duluth)
D Genoway, Chay (D/North Dakota)
D Blood, Ben (D/North Dakota)
D Forbort, Derek (D/North Dakota)

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Zudnic,

I have decided on my poaches...

Gregoire (UND) and Vaughan (Michigan)...

I'll let Hunwick go... Thought about him as insurance if they get past UND, but I wouldn't start him against UND. And I have room for another D (Vaughan has very good numbers)...

I'll save my 2 other roster moves until next Friday...

Thanks!

Good luck to you Shirtless Guy... I am very fortunate the UMD is in it, or else I would have no chance... Also fortunate to get tickets to the games on Lower Level Blue Line for face. :)

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Gregoire (UND) and Vaughan (Michigan)...
Successfully dropped Gregoire, Jason (North Dakota) for Arcibal, Nielsson (American International)
Successfully dropped Vaughan, Scooter (U. Michigan) for Benovic, Tomas (American International)
Effective Time: 2011-03-30 17:26:20 EST

Interesting choices. I would have probably taken Tynan over Vaughn.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Time to make a decision.

I will poach Gregoire and Faulk from kickingandscreaming. Adding them will be my first two moves of the week.
