Exhibition Scoreboard

Re: Exhibition Scoreboard

UNB, Acadia, St. Francis and McGill all have very respectable historical records against the NCAA.

**I should throw in a disclaimer that I attended and played for one of the above programs.

These teams are 10-22-5 in the last 5 years vs. NCAA teams. Not sure what level we are calling very respectable, but that is the recent record. Also these CIS teams usually have a game or two under their belt already while the NCAA teams are just starting official practices. These are certainly more of the stronger CIS programs as some of these teams have given BU much closer games than St. Thomas and UPEI.

2016: 2-6-0
2015: 2-5-0
2014: 3-3-2
2013: 1-5-2
2012: 2-3-1

NCAA Exhibition scoreboard for October 6, 2016:

USA U-18 (USHL) 2 @ #4 Boston University 8

Not much to talk about here. BU is now 2-0 in exhibition play after taking down the USNTDP Under-18 Team by the score of 8-2.

NCAA Exhibition scoreboard for October 8, 2016:

USA U-18 (USHL) 2 @ #12 Harvard 5
Alberta (CIS) 3 @ Nebraska-Omaha 2

#12 Harvard took down the USNTDP U-18 Team 5-2 on Saturday. The Under-18 squad tied things up at 2 early in the 2nd period, but Harvard would pull away late in the game. Out west, the University of Alberta beat the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 3-2 at Baxter Arena in Omaha. UNO pulled out a 2-0 lead early in the game, but Alberta, always a tough out in these exhibition games, rattled off two goals to tie things up before the end of the 1st period. The U of A Golden Bears would score the game winner late in the 3rd.

NCAA Exhibition scoreboard for October 14, 2016:

USA U-18 (USHL) 0 @ #9 Minnesota 9

The Golden Gophers annihilated the US Under-18 team tonight by the score of 9-0. Minnesota didn't outshoot the U-18s by a whole lot, but they made their shots count. This year's USNTDP squad doesn't seem to be as competitive as last years team, which was always a tough out last season, even against top-ten ranked DI teams.

Re: Exhibition Scoreboard

NCAA Exhibition scoreboard for October 21, 2016:

Division I

UOIT (CIS) 1 @ Cornell 3
USA U-18 (USHL) 3 @ Wisconsin 4

Division II/III

Marist (ACHA DII) 4 @ Post 3

A pair of power-play goals were enough to lift Cornell past the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks. Cornell would eventually add an even-strength goal in the 3rd, and take a 3-1 win over a UOIT team that is currently 5-0 and ranked #5 in CIS men's hockey. Wisconsin trailed the USA Under-18 Team after the 1st period, but pulled ahead in the 2nd and managed to hold on for a 4-3 win in Madison. Down in Division II, first year NCAA program Post University got off to an inauspicious start by dropping a 4-3 game at home to Marist College, a club team which play's in the ACHA's Division II. Post is gonna need to improve a lot if they expect to keep any of their NCAA games this season even remotely close.

NCAA Exhibition scoreboard for October 22, 2016:

Division I

Brock (CIS) 1 @ Cornell 8
#13 Harvard 3 @ Dartmouth 3
USA U-18 (USHL) 2 @ #2 Minnesota-Duluth

Division II/III

Champlain College-Lennoxville (RSEQ) 1 @ #14 Norwich 8
CCHL All-Graduate Team (CCHL) 1 @ Oswego State 3

In Division I, Cornell rolled to an 8-1 win over the Brock University Badgers. #13 Harvard skated to a 3-3 tie with Dartmouth in an inter-NCAA, inter-ECAC and inter-Ivy League exhibition game. Harvard won an exhibition shootout played after the end of regulation. Out in Minnesota, the USNTDP U-18 Team scored with less than a minute remaining in regulation to take the 2-1 upset win over the #2 UMD Bulldogs. Meanwhile down in Division III, the Norwich University Cadets routed the Cougars of Champlain College (Lennoxville) by the score of 8-1. Champlain College, located in Lennoxville, QC (just outside of Sherbrooke), is a Cégep. For those of you who don't know, Cégeps are a type of two-year school which is unique to the Quebec educational system. They're basically a cross between senior high schools and junior colleges. Based on what I know about them (which admittedly isn't much) I'd guess that the level of play of their hockey teams is probably roughly equivalent to an average Canadian Junior B league. Finally, the Oswego State Lakers took a 3-1 win over the CCHL All-Grad. Team. Assuming they used the same set-up as last year, the CCHL squad was basically an All-Star team, except rather than drawing the best players from the whole league, it only took overage (20 year olds) who hadn't yet committed to a college program. When these two teams met last year, the CCHL squad skated away with a 6-3 win.

NCAA Exhibition scoreboard for October 29, 2016:

Division I

Princeton 5 @ USA U-18 (USHL) 4 in OT

Division II/III

Cégep André-Laurendeau (RSEQ) 0 @ #7 Plattsburgh 4

Princeton earned a 5-4 overtime victory over the USA Under-18 Team at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI. Shots were about even for both teams. Meanwhile down in DIII, the SUNY-Plattsburgh Cardinals took down the visiting AL Boomerang of the RSEQ by the score of 4-0. Cégep André-Laurendeau actually kept things close for most of it, trailing 1-0 at the start of the 3rd, but Plattsburgh, who had almost twice as many shots as the visitors, was able to pull away in the last period.
