The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Probably something similar to when the newhl was absorbed by the SUNYAC on the women's side everyone kept their job and everything essentially stayed the same except for a logo change. The UCHC will likely be absorbed by the Empire 8.
Empire 8 runs the UCHC. Same commissioner. Same SID. Same admin. (Just like the SUNYAC ran the NEWHL.)
Last time I spoke to people in E8 last year, they gave me the impression they weren’t going to change the naming of UCHC. But it certainly would make sense if they did.
The only question I have (and I’m too lazy to look it up right now) is when the realignments are complete next year, will the majority of the UCHC teams be full time E8 members? I think that makes a difference in NCAA’s minds whether you can be considered as officially part of an all sports conference or have to stand alone as a single sport conference.

As of next year, there will be 6 teams out of 9 total on the men's side who are full-time Empire 8 members (Utica, Nazareth, Elmira, St. John Fisher, Geneseo and Brockport)
Chatham, Manhattanville and Albertus Magnus are the three outliers
This is not true. There are a few one sport conferences which are totally independent and share nothing with any other conference, especially in D1 -- Atlantic Hockey for example. In D3 it makes sense to share operational costs for budget reasons, but it's not mandatory.
There is however a moratorium on creating new one sport conferences at all levels of the NCAA.
