Good. I find that a lot of things that claim to be "maple" don't actually taste like maple. Looks like Saugatuck now has statewide distribution in Wisconsin (as of very recently). I remember I tried finding the Neapolitan Milk Stout a few years ago, and had to get it in Chicago. I've seen that recently at the frou frou grocery store by my mom's house, so I'll try there.

There are a COUPLE stores that I know of around west/northwest metro of Mpls, but it's not common. The most common are the Neapolitan and Serrano offerings.

Breckenridge Nitro Vanilla Porter Cans - ***

Not sure if I got a bad batch, if I messed up, or what. Chilled the cans to 40*F, popped the cans, waited a moment to let the Nitrogen do its thing then poured hard into a glass. Had a decent head just like the offerings from a Nitro Tap I've had, but it lacked the aroma and flavor that I got from the tap. Little vanilla flavor present. It was like flavorless CO2 bubbles. And the beer itself was flavorless as well. It was like a flat soda, for lack of a way to describe it when compared to the tap I had about 6 months ago.

I got 3 more cans, so I'm gonna try it again at a later date. If the results are similar I'm disappointed tremendously. I'm hoping it was just a bad can or something I messed up since this is the first go around with a Nitro can.

Breckenridge has been ruined by Inbev. No point in buying their stuff anymore. Their 25 year anniversary beer was an infected disaster, just like Goose Island BCS...also Inbev.

Their regular Vanilla Porter was fine this year, and the nitro version that a local place has was excellent. I can attest to the 25 Anniv, my bottle was bad, got a refund for it.

As for the BCS, two variants were infected off the bat, and now the regular version is now turning, depending on what batch/etc you have.

Just don't buy Inbev, and you'll not have a problem.

I don't buy certain InBev stuff (haven't bought regular Goose Island offerings since the sale; they changed that stuff due to a brewmaster leaving, which you know about). They didn't change their special stuff (Sofie, Lolita, BCS, etc). Now this year it was a quality issue with the BCS.

Right now, for me, it all comes down to if they mess with what made the acquisition successful in the first place. Example: Ballast Point. Whichever conglomerate bought them flat out said that they only want the money. They have zero desire to mess with the beer. I'm A-OK with that.

Picked up some Surly #Merica! beer for Tuesday's Copa tailgating... Seems appropriate for the mission at hand there

Mentioned in the Lodge that a local brewery had their 2nd Anniv party yesterday. Had a bunch of special bottle releases, mainly sours and Russian Imperial Stouts. Picked up one of each of the six RIS's, each aged in a different bourbon barrel (although one of the six was a blend of 5 bourbon barrels, and honestly, wasn't that good :( ). Looking forward to the others, though.

I tried #Merica this weekend. Much better than other light lagers. Not great, but much better than the macro versions.

Picked up a Beers of Mexico variety pack from Sam's Club, and am disappointed. I don't think Sol, Tecate, and Dos Equis are the best Mexico has to offer.

Well, lemme tell ya something...

Those aren't the best from Mexico, they're just the ****ty ones packaged a little differently.

Cucapa Brewing Company: actual Mexican craft beer

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

Has anyone her tried "Dinner" from the Maine Brewing Company? Very hard to come by. I did try "Lunch" (on tap at Roberts in Kittery ME) and thought it was very good.

I've heard about Lunch.

A group of (mostly) Gopher fans from GopherPuckLive and a few random fans like the posters formerly known as MeanEgirl and nmupiccdiva hit up the Fitzgerald in Eagle River MI (UP) this past weekend. One of the owners brought out some good stuff for us:

2010 Goose Island Vanilla Bourbon County Stout
2011 Goose Island BCS
2012 Goose Island BCS
2012 Barrel Aged Dark Horse Plead The 5th Imperial Stout

The regular menu had:
2013 Goose Island Lolita
Barrel Aged Dark Horse Scotty Karate Scotch Ale
2016 Founders KBS (tap and bottles)

And some B. Nektar Meads:
Stupid Man Suit
Tuco-Style Freakout (you won't get it if you're not a Breaking Bad fan)

There were many other quality beers, for sure. It was glorious.
