Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

Total wine might not reserve something. But I can check their inventory and order online. And they have about a billion bottles of the special releases so as long as you don’t forget about it, you’ll get at least a bottle.

I know your neighborhood history for that sort of stuff, so I understand your predicament. My store gets the good stuff, and sets a bottle aside for me, automatically, and I know certain stores where I can get the good stuff. Add to that, connections with the beer group I'm in. I just cannot justify shopping at TW in my case.

There's nothing wrong with a mason jar, based upon what you're drinking. Whisky/ey drinks? No problem. Martinis? Probably not the best.

At the lodge where I stayed/went fishing at this summer in Ontario, they had mason jars for us to have cocktails in.

I brought mine home.

Had forgotten till these posts.

Wonder where it is...

New Holland Dragon's Milk (first New Holland I've seen in NH stores). That is...awesome, but intense. The husband is staggering a bit after his. His review, "it's not sessionable". :p

Dragon's Milk is pure awesomeness. I hope you come across the variants at some point, which include:
Chiles
Raspberry
S'Mores

So friggin' good.

They had Mexican Spice Cake earlier this year. I live a few miles away from the Brew pub, and they have a small store where they sell the variants as well as their liquor.

Yes, the Mex was also good. They have a coconut one, too, but I'm not a fan of coconut.

The variants lasted about 30 minutes in the Twin Cities market. I got lucky and found the Mex and the S'Mores in Houghton last summer, and even THEN, the S'mores was tough to find.

I branched out of the Americas and finally had a glass of French wine with dinner. I’ve been trying to expand beyond the Californian and Chilean cabs which I’ve kind of been stuck in for a couple months.

Nothing fancy. A simple Côtes-du-Rhône. It was awesome. I’m not in love with the food pairing, but it was a stab in the dark. The aroma was incredible. They had to have used at least a few staves from an American bourbon barrel.

I’m excited to see what else the Rhône has to offer.

Bell's Black Note is back. You Michiganders will probably have an easier time finding it than others, of course. I got lucky and my store hooked me up with a 4pk. :) If you never have had it, you really should. It also ages well.

If you come to Holland, we can go to New Holland itself. They have a nice "sidecar" where you can buy booze.

Also, Brent, good call on the Evan Williams. Mixed great with the chocolate chili liqueur.

Tecumseh Brewing has some amazing fall beers.

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

Holy moly. Cotton Brewing has one of the best young whiskeys I’ve ever had. And these arseholes don’t sell it by the bottle.

I asked the waitress if she wants to see a grown man cry. She still wouldn’t sell it to me in a growler.

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

Bell's Black Note was here and gone within 2 days. Most stores sold it as a 1 or 2 bottle limit. My store sold me a four pack, and another local store had no limit (where I stupidly only bought 1 four pack; shoulda bought them out and flipped them at a later date/traded them off). Neither store is a big-box store, either.

A local bar happened to have a keg of it about a week ago. Lasted a day. It was delicious. ;)

Funny when the Oberon that I had with fish fry tonight is a simple beer.

Fish fry btw was walleye we caught in Canada in June that we're finally getting into.

To die for.

In terms of simple, I like brown ales, Founders Dirty Bastard, Atwater Dirty Blonde, Oberon, and a good IPA.

Also, my tastes have changed. I like drinking a Cosmopolitan or something fruity. And if you want to hold my purse... here you go.

Well.. part of me wants to say every beer can be a session ale if you try hard and believe in yourself. But I know that is not true.

I say it depends on how long of a session you planning on drinking for! :p
