Elmira College

For you EC fans jonesin' for some ice action, try an NAHL game at the LECOM Events Center. The New Hampshire team in town this weekend had about a 50/50 split between D1/D3 commitments last season.

The skill level for teenagers was impressive, the level of feistiness was just about right (for me) and there was even a drop-the-gloves moment. I've seen worse teams at the Domes over the past 50 years.

Edit: I heard that the players were being housed on EC's campus. Hopefully a couple will enjoy the experience to the extent that they choose to stick around for another 4.

played there my freshman year, then transferred to Oswego, personnal stuff, pretty good place to be for 4 yrs......

The '24/'25 edition of the Soaring Eagles will take a while to gel. Lots of errant passes, trouble controlling the puck, but hard skating nonetheless.

It's obvious that the staff has spent the majority of time coaching defense, and the defensive schemes were fairly solid. Once the defensemen are a bit more comfortable, they'll likely bring a bit of spice to the offense. Most of the shots were from angles that Nazareth dictated, and were easily stopped.

I didn't notice any glaring deficiencies, but wasn't astounded by anyone either. My prediction is that this will be a low-scoring, muck it up, not very pretty season.

P.S. Nice crowd tonight in the stands! Nearly 800!

Shots were too high. Into his chest and glove. When they shot low rebounds were created. Disappointed in Jr Gorman for getting his shot blocked turning into the 2 on 1 which became the winning goal. He should have done better.

Well color me surprised. This very young edition of the Soaring Eagles seems to be gelling nicely together. After a lackluster couple of opening games, they handily knock off a ranked Skidmore twice.

I'm impressed with the hustle, the defensemen have become a bit more aggressive on the blue line, the goaltending is stellar, and there were some offensive flashes that reminded me of a much more mature unit. I believe the gritty influence of the graduate students has had a very positive effect on the team.

They don't have any superbly skilled players, but they all give 100% every shift. Can't ask for anything more.

Not sure how many new faces the Soaring eagles have but we seems to be in the same boat at Oswego, with 19,they have a lot of get up and go,forechech, backcheck and crash the net, seems to be paying off as of last weekends showing, ya never know???

This group continues to pleasantly surprise us. Only 2 whistles for the first 11 minutes, with a great flow to the game. Noticeable improvement in offensive zone puck movement. In fact, on one of the very few Power Plays, the puck never left the offensive zone. Haven't seen that in forever.

Albertus is decent team, and will give teams fits this season. The one glaring deficiency is EC's lack of ability to take or deflect a puck in the air. Hopefully that hand/eye coordination will evolve.

Prior to 2006, EC was 42 - 7 - 0 all time versus Hobart. Since then EC is 19 - 28 - 3.

Considering Hobart's facilities, I'm astounded at the success of their program. Considering the facilities at a few other campuses, I'm also astounded at the demise those programs over the past decade. Shows what good/poor leadership vs. facilities means to the success of a program.

Looks like Elmira's inexperience finally caught up to them against a juggernaut of a program.

If it's Hobart vs. Field for this year's NCAA Championship, I'm taking Hobart.

Agreed, I am not worried about two loses to them.

What is the record over the last ten years? I can only recall a handful of victories. Hobart has out scored EC 25-3 over the last four games they’ve played. What are they doing right that EC isn’t?
