RPI is coming off their best weekend of the season, I only hope that there is no let down.
If they bring the same intensity and teamwork to Potsdam that they had in Ithica, we should move on. However, they are going to make us play the games and we will have to do it on the ice.
Looking forward to it.

For those so inclined, HFH box office is currently selling a limited number of tickets for the series.
Buy 'em over the phone now, pick 'em up at Cheel Box Office. Now if I could find a hotel...

I have a long history of the games we have played in Potsdam. It was never easy-even when we came up there with a loaded team like 1984 and 1985-We lost 3-2 and won 7-4 and we had our best teams in history. Clarkson may have had some bad years-but even when they do they seem to up and ready for us. Jenny and I have seen about 12 or so games up there over the years and absolutely nothing ever came easy. I think this weekend the results will depend on who can make the fewest mistakes and staying out of the box will just be mandatory. If we can play like we did this past weekend-we will still need some help-we did not exactly fill the net with goals even while winning 2 games. Sure we got 4 on friday-but we were only a couple minutes from being shut out on saturday. I cannot see scoring 1 or even 2 goals being enough to beat this Clarkson team.

Not going to drive up for these. I'd like to hear a... oh, what's the record... 480 minute effort from RPI this weekend. We BETTER NOT have three games go to 5 overtimes...

Gah don't start. I don't think my nerves could take that much OT.

Every time I think about this series it makes me nervous...I know we can do it (Exhibit A, this past weekend) and I believe in our team, but with RPI hockey you never know...I'm predicting a nail-biter.

well, we get Kotyra :mad: but maybe it won't be so bad as when he's intimidated by Fat Mike, although there is a connection with Casey Jones.....OFFICIALS: Friday’s officials are Tim Kotyra and Bob Ritchie (referees) and Brett Reed and Joe Testa (linesmen) ... I am not happy. Kotyra is awful for us in HFH so you can imagine him on the road. I don't have all the stats here right now but at one time-early in his career we had a win % of 13.6% with him on the ice (3-19). And of course we all remember him as one of the 2 lovely officials in the 2nd playoff game at Cornell a few years back when we were called for enough penalties to put us down to 3 skaters on the ice 8 times. Well- it could be worse. We could get him for the second game and possible third game also.:(

Why am I thinking this assignment isn't a coincidence? Careful what you wish for Doc. :D

I'm heading to the series - and thanks to Mother Nature finally figuring out its winter, it'll actually look like the dreaded north country. Thankfully we scored a spot at the Clarkson Inn, so we'll be able to stumble home from the post-game "meetings" :D GO RED

Kotyra made a couple of terrible calls in the RPI-Union L.P. game, including the bench minor against Appert. Aside from that, he is one of the worst officials in the league. The Saturday crew is pretty good.

Sergi's is the best- get a pizza roll. Maxfield's is pretty good and has a nice bar. Little Italy also has really good Italian food, which, in my opinion, isn't as good as Sergi's, but some people think it's better. Mama Lucia's, which is a little more upscale than Sergi's and Little Italy, also has excellent Italian food. The Cactus Cantina has good Mexican food and a bar. The Village Diner has good breakfast. All of those are across the street from the Clarkson Inn on Market Street (or on a side street off Market Street). Eben's Hearth, which is out near Clarkson, is also very good. Potsdam doesn't have much, but it does have a few good restaurants.

Suggestions for places to eat/things to do:

Hot Tamale is like a homegrown version of Moe's. New in town, pretty good burritos and whatnot.
Sergi's is the classic if you want to feel grease clog your veins.
Foxy Roxy's is the place to go for breakfast. Village Diner is dead to me after eating at Roxy's.
Bagelry is my favorite drunk snack, conveniently located right next to Maxfields on Market Street.
Bar 9 and Club 99 are the on-campus bars, if you are brave enough - one in Cheel and one in the student center. Bar 9 in the student center has pool, bubble hockey, and ping pong.
Eben's is my go-to for everything after 11am. Big beers (they have 20 freaking taps now?!!? when I was in school it was 4), lunch, dinner, and postgame.

Other things to do in town that don't involve drinking... are somewhat limited (to bowling), but if you get in touch with the current Clarkson Pep Band they might entertain the idea of doing something.

If you're bringing a bunch of 19+ but not a lot of 21+, Cornwall, Canada, and lower drinking ages are only 30-40 minutes away. Get a hotel there if everyone has the credentials to cross the border (need EDL or passport now).
