ECAC Playoffs

Re: ECAC Playoffs

RPI winning this one helps Cornell in the bigger picture (probably not enough to prevent Cornell from needing to win the championship) but they will remain a TUC. Correct?
yup, guarantees it. I'm not sure how much it helps them, but there may be some scenario in which it helps them. It's just not obvious to me which that is.

The Clarkson-SLU series is already a microcosm of Clarkson's season so far.

Re: ECAC Playoffs

Harvard up 3-0 on Princeton and outshooting them 22-3. Wow.

They seemed pretty determined to make up for 1-point showing against them this season. Now they could get a shot at teams they didn't beat (Clarkson or RPI) in the semis.

Re: ECAC Playoffs

I'm disappointed in Princeton. I thought they would have at least put up a fight. Not trying to discredit Harvard obviously they played 2 great games, but I expected the series to be a little bit interesting

Re: ECAC Playoffs

After the second longest game in women's collegiate ice hockey history we finally find out that it is RPI moving on to face Cornell in the semis! The game lasted 5 hrs and 13 min, that's just crazy! I can't imagine how tired they all must have been by the end. Shows a lot of heart on the part of both teams

ECAC Playoffs

Wondering about Harvard, Clarkson and Cornell. ECAC. Have a feeling, as you say, all red-shirted. Assume then we will see them again next year-say, Rebecca Johnston for Cornell?

Re: ECAC Playoffs

The Swiss Olympians played this weeken, as did, I beleive, Raty for Minny.
I think all of the Finns who were away at the Olympics returned this weekend, as did Tomcikova (Slovakia) at Bemidji St.

In order to play, they'd have to be full-time students. And if they did, as others have said, they would lose a full year of eligibility. I believe Jocelyne Larocque of UMD is the only person who missed time because of centralization that returned to play a partial season, and she started after the new year.

ECAC Playoffs

Assuming that is the case, Cornell loaded!

Great men's game. We go summers-every summer, to a cottage. Brother played at SLU and he ,all of us, whooped at US goal by Parise! But now...

IIRC, Paul Kariya played after the Olympics. I don't know how he became a fulltime student but it was Maine.

The Lamoureux twins are full time students now, but they can't play in any case because this is their sit-out year as WCHA transfers. It makes more sense on the men's side to just play a few games if the player isn't planning to stay for a full 4 years anyway.

No, Paul played 12 games of the first semester before leaving to play for the Canadian Olympic team. As I recall, Shawn Walsh tried to convince Paul to return after the Olympics, but he declined. However, the Ferraro twins did return after playing on the US Olympic team and played 4 games for Maine. They were the reason Maine gave BU a fight in the HE Quarterfinals, but it appeared to me that they players they replaced were very upset by it. The twins left to play in the pros the following season.
