OK for all you losers in the ECAC Pick the Standings Contest here is your chance to redeem yourselves.
:) .

Congrats to the Cleary Cup winning Union Dutchmen. Union, Cornell, Harvard and Colgate have the Byes for the opening round.

Here is how the contest is played.
Pick who you think will win each of the first round playoff series and what the game count will be.
As an example:

SLU vs Dartmouth. SLU 2-1 or SLU 2-0 or Dartmouth 2-1 or Dartmouth 2-0

You get a point for picking the correct winner of the series and a point for each correct total wins for each team.
Max first round point total per series is 4.

If SLU wins 2-0 and you pick them to win 2-0 you get 4 points, 1 for SLU as the series winner, 2 for each SLU win and 1 for picking Dartmouth to not win a game.
If SLU wins 2-1 and you pick them to win 2-0 you get 3 points
If SLU wins 2-0 and you pick Dartmouth to win 2-1 you get 1 point
If SLU wins 2-0 and you pick Dartmouth to win 2-0 you get 0 points.

So here are the first round matchups: PLEASE KEEP YOUR PICKS IN THIS EXACT ORDER AS IT IS EASIER FOR ME TO ENTER THESE IN MY EXCEL SPREAD SHEET TO KEEP SCORE.
Please use the real team names when you enter your picks.
Hopefully the first poster will have the order right and everyone can follow after him/her.

#12 Brown @ # 5 Quinnipiac
#11 Princeton @ #6 Yale
#10 RPI @ #7 Clarkson
#9 Dartmouth @ #8 SLU

Example Pick:

Brown 2-0

Brown-0 Quinnipiac-2
Princeton-0 Yale-2
RPI-2 Clarkson-1
Dartmouth-1 St Lawrence-2

I should add-no excuses for my husband DrD-he was still sober when he just made his choices. But not for long as we are both celebrating the best weekend in RPI hockey in a very long time.

Re: ECAC Pick The Playoffs 2012

#12 Brown @ # 5 Quinnipiac- QU 2-0..Brown seemed very unglued in the later part of the season, QU is a solid squad and just might be too much for the Bears.
#11 Princeton @ #6 Yale- Yale 2-1 Princeton has been ok as of late, owned RPI on their home ice, but I think the Bulldogs can get the job done at Ingalls
#10 RPI @ #7 Clarkson- RPI is 5-0-1 in their past 6 road contests, including a central NY sweep, RPI had the better of the play a few weeks back against tech but CU was able to pull out the victory...hoping to see RPI continue to play solid road hockey...RPI 2-1
#9 Dartmouth @ #8 SLU- SLU like RPI has been a good second half team with a few tough spots, and took down dartmouth tonight, Im not over impressed with Dartmouth so i'll take the Saints 2-0 at home

Re: ECAC Pick The Playoffs 2012

#12 Brown @ # 5 Quinnipiac: I wouldn't be surprised to see three out of the last four years... Brown in 3. (2-1)
#11 Princeton @ #6 Yale: Given where it is, Yale in a sweep. (2-0)
#10 RPI @ #7 Clarkson: Kepler's second law of ECAC hockey. RPI in a sweep. (2-0)
#9 Dartmouth @ #8 SLU: SLU in three. (2-1)

Re: ECAC Pick The Playoffs 2012

#12 Brown @ # 5 Quinnipiac: Quinny (2-0)
#11 Princeton @ #6 Yale: Yale (2-0)
#10 RPI @ #7 Clarkson: Clarkson (2-1)
#9 Dartmouth @ #8 SLU: SLU (2-0)

Re: ECAC Pick The Playoffs 2012

#12 Brown @ # 5 Quinnipiac: Quinnipiac 2-0 but Brown will actually score a goal this year.
#11 Princeton @ #6 Yale: Yale 2-0...the Eli are still too good.
#10 RPI @ #7 Clarkson: Diebold 2-1
#9 Dartmouth @ #8 SLU: St. Lawrence 2-0

Re: ECAC Pick The Playoffs 2012

Following up my worst finish in the Pick the Standings Contest in a few years, my prognistication confidence level is not high:

Q Pac, at home, playing well, in a sweep. (just glad the Saints aren't playing our personal millstone Brown)
Ylae looks like they are gelling a bit....another sweep and my apologies to Bobby Prier
Knights prevail but not without going to three games. This one is tough as RPI is on the upswing and doing well on the road. Staying with the home team.
Saints squeak out game 3 in OT thriller as the home ice pays off. Would not be surprised to see this one swing the other way as these two teams are very closely matched.

Q Pac 2 Brown 0
Ylae 2 Princeton 0
Clarkson 2 RPI 1
St. Lawrence 2 Dartmouth 1
