To give you an idea, I go with 5 gpg and I wound up 40+ points closer. Of course, I also missed the first 3 weeks of the schedule as usual... :p

I should just calculate what the average per game is. If I assume that I was always over the correct answer (which probably isn't correct), then 137/(22*12/2) is indeed about 1 off.

I used to go with 5 goals per game, but ended up way low. This year I went with 5.5, then added/subtracted 1 or 2. My goals number was much better, but my picking games was not

I just calculated it including only league games. I got 5.08333... That would mean 61 goals when everyone is playing. I checked my calculation using the goals against which should obviously give the same answer.

Now I will have to look for this post next year. Maybe I should also go back a few years and fit a curve to the trend. (Probably not worth the trouble.)

This was an emotional, gut-wrenching contest this year when you pick against your own team every week! At least the Raiders ended the regular season with some magical Starr power when they needed it most.

For those talking about goal differential -

-In Week 2 (November 6-7), there were 76 goals over 12 games (6.33 per game).
-In Week 4 (November 20-21), we had a record low 18 total goals over 8 league games (2.25 per game).

There was no rhyme or reason to predicting total goals this year over a given weekend. Fire up that dartboard!
