ECAC Friday 1/17

Re: ECAC Friday 1/17

Smolcynski and Ward get a 2 on 1 shorthanded, which gets turned into a Brown 4 on 2 going back, and they score on their PP. 4-0 Brown.

Re: ECAC Friday 1/17

Also hockeyplayer (or anyone), do you know why the SLU play-by-play mentioned that Nick Lappin was booed in lineup introductions? What might that be in reference to?

What Brandon (Hockeyplayer) said was correct. Don't get me going on this one. When arguably one of the most storied players in the history of the program has his kid go to Brown it is a slap in the face. There are lots of stories that went around about what happened including one where we (SLU) supposedly didn't pursue him aggressively. Never had him up to campus. Nick wanted a big school first....then no good big school offers, then he wanted an Ivy.....and wound up at Brown. That was also a time when our coach was having medical issues so the recruiting probably wasn't at its peak with the assistants having to coach instead of being on the recruiting trail. Still....put all the stories out there as to why Nick didn't come to SLU aside......it is a shame to lose a player with his pedigree regardless of how good or bad someone might have thought he would be. I am also pretty sure the next Lappin is headed to Brown and another relation is headed elsewhere as well.
I do not blame the crowd for booing one bit. They should boo.

Well, seems like a tough situation for a young kid to be presented with. Obviously, we're very pleased with his decision, but I would be very angry if I were in your position. Any word on whether or not his relatives are anywhere near as good as him? :)

That would be up to our resident expert Got6 to comment on as he is more in tune with the recruiting picture. He must be good coming from that family. Whether he is as good as Nick I do not know.

Bad turnover by SLU and Goldberg(?) hits post.

I was present at the first Brown/SLU game. What a difference - I don't think SLU's game has gone south, it's just that Brown is too much for SLU to handle.

Re: ECAC Friday 1/17

Going to watch TV soon in place of this. Too many good things on. Best of which is NHL Network has Anaheim at Chicago coming on. Talk about a good match up.

No offense.....Brown might have gotten better and I don't doubt that based on their results....but I can tell you since the Harvard weekend SLU has REGRESSED markedly.

Yep. I can't speak for Brown's performance, but SLU has gone downhill quick. Complete difference after Halloween.

I'm with you Mike. I've got BU @ BC on, and will likely flip between that and the NHL game you mention.

Trust me, SLU has gone WAY south. Brown looks good, but they also looked good back when we saw them the first time as well. The difference is, our offense has disappeared and our defense (which was never good anyways) is now non existent ...
