ECAC - COVID Edition

Union and Colgate are playing home and homes in early December. Sacred Heart and Colgate in November and RIT/Colgate as well. Baby steps.

Buccigross is reporting that the Ivies are cancelling winter sports. No shock there. They are lame anyway. Here is hoping that Cornell goes its own way and decides to play. They are kind of the rebel Ivy anyway. Hoping Union has the backbone to play. Looks like RPI does not.

ECAC announced that they are moving forward without those sheep the Ivies and any other sheep teams that follow the Ivies. They actually said that.

ECAC announces its moving forward with 4 teams. Schedules for the first half are posted. Colgate, Clarkson and Quinny have games. Nothing for SLU yet.

“ We are deeply saddened and sorrowful for the student-athletes, coaches, staff, and all stakeholders at Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, RPI, Union, and Yale,” said ECAC Hockey Commissioner Steve Hagwell. “ECAC Hockey is the greatest league in the country in large part because of the individuals representing the 12 member institutions.”

This bloviating is sickening.

And next weekends Clarkson - Quinnipiac 2 game series cancelled due to COVID outbreak at Quinnipiac according to Cap Carey of the Watertown Daily Times.

Gee, who could have seen this coming, other than the two-thirds of the conference who chose to be a little more prudent? The Commish will have to find some aftermarket sheepskins for those now wanting to join the safety of the fold.

Sure - those sheep can sit home all season. Ivies can sit in their ivory towers quivering in fear while all their good men's players transfer. These teams will adjust the schedule and keep on playing. Getting covid means little to this age group. Grandma is not at the rink. Get it and get it over with and you don't have to get the vaccine.

Unfortunately, my family is having to deal with this right now! It isn't a big deal with this age group until it is a big deal to this age group. My daughter, tested positive for C-19 with mild/moderate symptoms. The worst two symptoms she had was a mild fever and back pain. The link below is the algorithm that should be followed before an athlete is to return to play. However, many schools (I am aware of at least 6) are not holding to these standards for athlete return to play. We are being safe and have scheduled her for the hsTn, ECG, and ECHO for tomorrow. Also, local news regarding HS students suffering from permanent damage for getting back to play too soon, and not giving enough time for rest. Another HS student has passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Having said all of that, this is America where you should be free to choose for yourself. Just be ready to stand accountable for the decisions you have made. Accountability is something that is lost on society today.

I truly hope we can get to some semblance of a season for these athletes. Stay safe everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

My daughter also tested positive and went through all of that testing at her school. Is there no risk? Of course not. I agree with you that individuals can determine their own tolerance and act accordingly. Preferable to mandates from the overlords.

Could not agree with you more on that statement. Accountability goes out the door in todays society and the lawyers are ready and eager to go to court to prove that it is always someone else's fault for the choices individuals make that don't turn out the way they wanted.
Stay safe to you and your family. My wife and I are staying home and will Google Duo with my grand daughter this Thanksgiving.

At least in regards to mask wearing, I laugh loudly every time I hear such sentiments. Leaving it up to us to do what is right is exactly what's caused the problem. We have already proven that without a mandate too many of us won't wear masks and could care little about if that means spreading the virus to others. South Dakota is a prime example. That Gov keeps saying she trusts her citizens to mae the right decisions for themselves and I heard yesterday they may have the highest per capita Covid death rate in the country or - based on one report - the world. Most people simply are not very good at doing hard and inconvenient things unless we are made to do so. Not sure how much more proof we need on that!

Maybe you should stop listening to MSNBC/CNN. They don't like free thinking Republican governors. Or anyone thinking on their own. As of today, South Dakota has a death rate of 928 per million. The states with the most restrictive lockdown policies? Much worse. New York and emperor Cuomo come in at 1,763 per million. New Jersey is at 1,903 per million. Mass at 1,528 per million. Connecticut 1,366 per million. I could go on an on. What color are those states? Why is the media creating a false narrative? Figure it out.
